What I donât fucking understand is what part of our game has been high intensity??
â˝ Newcastle Unitedâs hierarchy is maintaining a calm outlook despite a difficult week that saw us suffer back-to-back defeats against Coventry and Aston Villa. Head coach Matthias Jaissle held a constructive meeting with senior players to gather feedback on his high-intensity 'vertical football' system, with squad members reassuring the manager that they remain 100% behind his tactical principles.
âđ§ Reports indicate that Matthias Jaissle met with David Hopkinson early Monday morning at the clubâs training base to reflect on recent performances and lay out plans for the upcoming clash against Crystal Palace. While the German boss is frustrated by recent errors and tactical gapsâparticularly the lack of a specialised defensive holding midfielderâhe remains committed to refining his philosophy rather than abandoning it during this period of transition.
âđŞ Crucially, the clubâs leadership views the current dip as an expected adjustment phase for a younger squad adjusting to a major tactical shift following a summer of targeted recruitment. With influential figures like Dan Burn and Joelinton returning toward full fitness, the focus inside the camp is firmly on blocking out outside noise, regaining midfield balance, and getting back on track at Selhurst Park.

Someone said "watch Mobland".
I've never watched Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc because watching 200 episodes rather than a 90 minute film is a lot of concentrating.
So I watched episode 1 at 8pm and went to bed after episode 10 around 4am.

The current barrier to greater AI diffusion isnât model capability. In my eyes, the barrier is three things (in order):
1. Most people donât understand what AI can do
2. They need to fundamentally think differently about their life and work
3. Human preference. Even if AI can do the thing, people still want to do it (like shopping)
Each layer is a more rigid barrier. First, someone must be motivated to understand.
Then, they have to build a habit of flipping their thinking to a more AI-forward way. They need to consider how they would deconstruct and assign out work as if they were a manager. They need to understand abstract capabilities and apply them to their own use cases, or understand what previous use cases were uneconomical that are now available.
Then they need to want to assign that task out to AI in the first place
All of this leads me to believe that we are still incredibly early. It will take 3-5 years for the middle of the curve to even understand todayâs AI capabilities and change their mindset to put this technology to work on their behalf. And by then we will be much more advanced.
The technological capability isnât the blocker. Itâs our understanding, creativity, and preferences that will determine the pace of diffusion

Got to have this mentality with every aspect of your life
Tom Brady says his career turned around when a sports psychologist told him to stop complaining about what he wasnât getting and start stewarding what he had the right way
âGreg said to me, âWhy donât you quit bitching about all the things youâre not getting, and how about you do the best with whatever opportunities you get?â, âStop worrying about what the other quarterbackâs getting. Stop worrying about what the coach is saying to you.ââ
ââEvery time you get in there, you bring the juice. You bring the energy. You bring the enthusiasm. You treat practice like a game.â Because if you just decide to go out there and youâre blaming everybody else, where does that get you? So I started to change my attitude.â
âI didnât have a lot of confidence in myself. And when you donât have a lot of confidence in yourself, you blame other people. When you gain confidence in yourself, you start pointing the finger at yourself.â
âI would encourage every athlete to look in the mirror after every day of practice or a game and say, âWhat can I do better to help the team? What can I do better?ââ
âNot, âWhat does the coach need to do better?â Not, âWhat do my teammates need to do better?â, âWhat do I need to do better?â If every player does that, youâre going to have an incredible team.â
âYou canât have a false confidence. You donât only gain your confidence because of your physical ability. You gain your confidence because youâre prepared, because youâre competitive. I couldnât just show up and be better than everybody.â
âI had to show up prepared. I had to show up with energy. I had to show up with my body feeling right. I had to show up like I was on a mission.â
