Great to see this vision coming to life. As the bottleneck shifts from building software to imagining what’s possible, a world of abundant software will unlock entirely new sources of value.

@emollick I spend a lot of time on this problem. I work on Auto style routing across Microsoft/GitHub and maintain vLLM Semantic Router.
The key distinction I'd make from the Jagged Frontier framing is:
human perceived difficulty != model capability != router quality
Good routers are not just doing "easy task to small model, hard task to big model."
They are trying to predict which model is best for a specific request using signals like task type, capability profile, context, cost, latency, confidence, and failure modes.
That's the approach we're taking with Auto.
Models have different capability surfaces. A smaller model can beat a larger one on some tasks, while the reverse is true elsewhere. So routing is really a model selection problem, not just a difficulty estimation problem.
There's also a growing body of empirical work showing that routing can outperform fixed model setups on quality, cost, or both. We summarize that literature and point to the relevant results in our paper: arxiv.org/abs/2603.21354 and arxiv.org/abs/2603.04444
To me, the frontier is how accurately we can learn:
request -> best model
Over the past year, vLLM Semantic Router has been exploring this from several angles: signal driven routing, context aware model pools, learned model selection, routing performance, and policy/runtime integration. I'm much more optimistic about Auto.

We’re building Copilot as a new OS for work that spans every model, every form factor, and every task. Today, we’re announcing our biggest update to Copilot to date, bringing four things together:
· Autopilot: proactive and long-running agent built for the enterprise
· Code: build apps with Copilot, hosted inside your company’s tenant
· Home: Chat + Cowork together
· Office: now fully embedded in Copilot (and Copilot embedded in Office, of course!)
Plus, you can invoke Copilot in Teams, and we’re introducing Today, a proactive experience that surfaces the most important information from across M365 without needing to ask for it.
The way we work is changing and so are our workflows. This update brings AI into that flow, from answering a question, to building an app, to getting work done on your behalf.
This is the point

I think of this like testing. We all do deliberate pacing when it comes to pre-release R&D and testing. And having more outside/3P testing/testers is a good thing. And as the stakes get higher, one should take all the time they need! If not you will anyway lose permission to operate. That is how we operate everyday.

@excalidraw meets coding agent. Install this plugin and use the @GHCopilotLog canvas to render the fully featured excalirdraw viewer and manipulate the diagram with the agent. Try by invoking the plugin inside a repo and asking "make an excalidraw of this repo" github.com/ryannadel/excalid…

Open-weight models are essential to a healthy AI ecosystem. Together with others across our industry, we are outlining a path for open-weight models to strengthen American competitiveness and expand economic opportunity, while protecting national security. microsoft.com/en-us/corporat…
Multi-tenant architecture enabled businesses to transition to the cloud without putting their data at risk. The reverse information paradox (RIP) requires the same with AI.
“In the cloud era, enterprises accumulated data. In the AI era, they accumulate learning. The trust boundary must evolve accordingly, from protecting information to protecting the mechanisms through which organizations learn, adapt, and compound intelligence.”
The terminal state is what we've been doing all along, outcomes over outputs == outcome engineering: prompt engineering --> context engineering --> harness engineering --> loop engineering --> outcome engineering
True story
The models we use every day are brilliant strangers. They forget your organization the moment a chat ends, then relearn it on the next query.
@EngramLab fixes that. It learns your world once and reuses that memory, matching frontier systems on 1-10% of the tokens.
@Microsoft, @NotionHQ, and @Harvey are already testing it within their organizations.
Congratulations to the team, and hear directly from @dan_biderman (CEO and co-founder) and Sabri Eyuboglu (CTO and co-founder) with @LM_Braswell ⬇️
A few thoughts on why loop engineering is really outcome engineering.
The loop is old. What changes when software can now interpret, act, and adapt toward a result.
I think one of the emerging problems in the AI era is that artifact generation is scaling faster than human understanding.
To help I built a simple Cognitive Coverage skill that uses agents to generate interactive teaching guides and coverage dashboards for codebases and knowledge systems, with the goal of helping people build actual mental models of AI-generated output.
