Drake University launches teacher intern program for professional students iowacapitaldispatch.com/2024… via @IowaCapDispatch

Awesome morning hosting 60+ ⁦@DMschools⁩ middle schoolers in the Dream to Teach program. Despite the challenges facing the profession, our future is bright! And a huge thank you to the teachers inspiring, encouraging, and supporting their future colleagues!

More than a dozen local orgs joined the 3rd annual ⁦@DrakeUniversity⁩ School of Education Community Partners Day. Great opportunity for our students to connect with those making DSM a great place to live. Huge thanks to ⁦@DMschools⁩ supt. Dr. Ian Roberts for joining!

If you know Wanda Everage, a long time leader ⁦@DSMRoosevelt⁩ & ⁦@DrakeUniversity⁩, you know she’s a treasure - kind, funny and inspiring! So glad she was able to share her wisdom with students this week!

Exciting week ahead ⁦@DrakeUniversity⁩ School of Education Wanda Everage Foundations of Success Conference! Outstanding student panelists sharing their secrets to success with our ⁦@DMschools⁩ participants.

Excellent presentation by Grace and Catherine, ⁦@DrakeUniversity⁩ School of Education students, on their summer undergrad research fellowship under the mentorship of ⁦@jerridkruse⁩. Another example of our outstanding students, faculty and learning opportunities!

Tomorrow marks 10th anniversary of signing of HF 215. Shout out to the thousands of IA teacher leaders supported by this law's funding over the past decade. Passed 40-10 in the senate and 95-0 in the House after 4 months of debate and was signed by Gov Branstad at DSM North HS.

I can’t imagine a better location for a state track meet than the blue oval ⁦@DrakeUniversity⁩! Beautiful day for thousands of students and their families from across Iowa to be on campus. #iahstrk

What an inspiring day! We were thrilled to host 240 high school students ⁦from across Iowa ⁦@DrakeUniversity⁩ for the ⁦@latinosinacti0n⁩ youth leadership conference. Jam packed day of learning, leadership, and community. ⁦@drakepresident⁩

Incredibly impressed by the @NoBoBIG eighth graders’ presentation @IowaSTEM advisory. There is no limit to what students can accomplish when given the opportunity and support. @OkobojiSchools

Important new research. Iowa has the nation's second largest superintendent gender gap. Our supt. program at Drake is ~50/50 male/female (which is great!) but as this study shows, the issue is deeper. In Iowa, 76% of teachers are female but only 44% of principals & 15% of supts.

While I didn’t write the headline to my guest essay, I know from 25 years in and around classrooms that this is a fundamental truth – supportive educators help kids thrive. desmoinesregister.com/story/…

It's time to go All In! All gifts (up to $3,500) made in the next 24 hours to the School of Education will be matched by our generous alums Jim and Laurie Cory! #DrakeAllIn
