This article about tuning Mastodon is interesting. No mention of Rails not scaling though 🤣 nora.codes/post/scaling-mast…
Worked for an NFP. Can confirm. Except that one DB that was an Access DB. Special feature: it had a table for the days of the week.

can you imagine waking up to an email from your boss asking you to fly across the country to attend a meeting in-person on the day of aforementioned meeting? that’s hard nope from me

I don’t get all the hate for the Twitter 2.0 email, I’ve always done my best when working 80 hours a week for a man child who has no clear goals and screams “MORE HARDCORE” whenever a clarifying question is asked. That’s when I really thrive.

doctor to patient's family: my condolences
patient's family: is he going to die
doctor: no but he likes elon musk
patient's family: my god
doctor: I'm afraid there is no cure

I’m not sure if I’d be comfortable driving a Tesla, what if 80% of its parts are deemed unnecessary? 🫣
“I see you haven’t used the airbag in quite some time”
Writing more GraphQL queries that talk to microservices today because I just know it would piss @elonmusk right off.

Maintainable Rails leanpub.com/maintain-rails by Ryan Bigg is the featured book on the Leanpub homepage! leanpub.com cc @ryanbigg
The Rails Foundation (rubyonrails.org/2022/11/14/t…) blatantly ignores that things like @gorails exists. This paragraph around "a question of documentation" is the most hand-waviest shit I've seen in a long while.
I’d give a million dollars divided out to:
- regional RUBY conferences, outside of US
- organisations such as RailsGirls, WomenWhoCode, etc.
- organisations such as GoRails
- start an apprenticeship program to train juniors and pay for their placement at companies
I’d use data from the apprenticeship program to find holes in how people learn Rails and then ask volunteers to help come fix them up. If they’re writing guides, I’d pay them from the fund at a per-published-word rate ($2-3 a word)
