It’s interesting how SB19 submitting this song for #Grammys consideration for Best Asia Pop Performance nomination exposed the very issue Pablo (VISA lyricist and composer) is highlighting in this song - how many Filipinos look down on OPM, how many Filipinos are not even aware of the depth and breadth of the existing local musical landscape because they are too engrossed in foreign music, and how local Filipino acts have difficulty finding a footing in the local industry because international acclaim seems to be a prerequisite to local recognition.
Pablo’s plea in the end is simple: Filipinos, give local homegrown OPM acts a chance because local support is a primary driver to push local music internationally.
SB19’s Visa definitely deserves a nomination a the very least given it’s technical qualities.
@Grammys we hope to see it on the list of nominees next month.
