There were some great tables at the #FancourtMarathon and the Safari Braai team provided your best opportunity to see flames over the last third of the race with their enticing Jägermeister offering. I followed mine up with a boerewors chaser. Highly recommended.

Here’s your 8th placed “female” from the recent Gun Run 21k. Fortunately the prize money only goes 5 deep at the race so there was no financial impact to the actual Top 10 ladies but I am sure that the authentic 8th, 9th and 10th ladies would have preferred to
Isavel Roche-Kelly medals at Comrades and achieved her goal of a Two Ocean Ultra Marathon silver medal earlier this year.

Despite what certain influencers try to tell you; no one really cares whether you hike or run up hills at trail runs. There are two massive speed bumps at the Koppie to Koppie Trail run and I was happy that my slowest ‘K of the day’ was only 15:25. As they say in the classics,
“Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.”
The rest of the route is easily runnable and relatively flat. Total vert for the 25k route was 542m which is ‘Lemon and Herb’ flavour by trail standards. Overall, this event is a good option for roadies who want to get their shoes a little
dirty and hopefully the 50k will be on the cards next year.

Some people think that the Koppie to Koppie trail run is named after the two heinous koppies that you run/hike up and down. This is not true. It is so named because you start your morning with a nice koppie coffee and then finish it with a nice koppie craft beer.

I’ve done a major clean-up scrub of the ‘Brad Smart’s dumb moves’ article. All bras have been removed and there is one major update: Evidence has emerged that Smart did indeed bandit at the 2025 Two Oceans Ultra Marathon. This has been reported to the Two Oceans Marathon office
and both he and the person who enabled the banditting face a 2-year ban from the event pending the disciplinary process.
