Two words can change the way your team sees hard things:
“We get to.”
Not:
“We have to.”
Practice.
Conditioning.
Pressure.
Competition.
Gratitude changes the lens.
And grateful teams compete differently.

Nick Saban says one of the biggest mistakes leaders make when their environment changes is sitting around complaining about the new rules, and says his philosophy was that complaining is actually a distraction to the solution, so you should always spend that energy figuring out how to adapt
“You have to be flexible, number one. If you’re flexible, then you have a willingness to adapt. And I think your willingness to adapt is really, really important because things are changing.”
“There’s a lot of changes that are ongoing that you have to adapt to. And I think that rather than complain about it, which a lot of people sit around and complain…”
“Complaining is actually a distraction to the solution. I think that you’ve got to spend most of your time trying to figure out, ‘What is the solution? How can we adapt?’”
“That’s the way we’ve tried to look at all these challenges, to try to improve the quality of the program that we have.”

Most players watch film by following the football. A better use if your time is to study the structure that creates the result.
Start with down and distance. Remove the situational outliers. Then identify the coordinator’s comfort calls, personnel tendencies, formations, and the pre-snap indicators that repeatedly show up before pressure or coverage changes.
The objective is not to guess the defense. It is to understand its habits well enough that game day becomes confirmation instead of discovery.
Study the coordinator’s DNA. Prepare. Identify. Decide. Execute.

DEAR COLLEGE FRESHMAN: You're now at the bottom of the totem pole.
What you did in high school DOES NOT MATTER anymore.
You have to earn it all over again.
You're headed into college baseball and it's no longer a game... It's a business.
22 year olds are built different.
Think different. Act different.
They don't care about your awards, rankings or state titles...
They are not there to be your friend.
They understand the window for their playing career is rapidly closing as each day passes, so they're not there to cheer you on just so you can take their job.
The college game is fast.
You will be shocked at just how fast things (and people) move and how quick you will need to be in order to make in-game decisions.
The players are bigger, stronger and faster.
They're adults now.
They aren't going to wait for you to catch up.
You will learn to truly understand the importance of:
⚾️ Sleep
⚾️ Nutrition
⚾️ Weight room
⚾️ Routine
⚾️ Time management
⚾️ Grit
⚾️ Being comfortable being uncomfortable
And the biggest one for most incoming freshman....
The realization that there are 2 types of players....
Those who are humble...
And ones those are about to be.
So as you head to campus to embark on the next chapter of your playing career and life, remember...
⚾️ Keep God 1st 🙏🏻
⚾️ Stay humble and hungry
⚾️ Enjoy the journey
Love,
KW

I'm convinced @DukeWBB Coach Kara Lawson is one of the best leaders in sports. This clip on urgency, growth not being linear, and the idea that there is no finish line is superb:
🥱 Need It > Want It. The people who win aren’t always the most gifted, they’re the ones who refuse to look away from what’s required RIGHT NOW. They stay present with the hard, the boring, and the uncomfortable, and they attack anyway. Wanting shows up when it’s convenient; needing shows up when it costs you something.
📈📉 Growth isn’t a straight line. There will be peaks that tempt your ego and valleys that test your belief. Real leadership is keeping your urgency and sharpness intact through all of it. Trusting that consistency is what will carry you through. Don't let your own impatience with stagnancy take your spirit.
🏁 There is no finish line where you finally get to coast, only new levels that ask more of you. Better is a direction, not a destination. The “ceiling” you feel is often just an imaginary story you’ve told yourself about what’s possible. Growth asks for the endurance to keep going and the humility to treat every day, every season, every year as another chance to get better.
Bring urgency to the way you show up every day. Don't ever give up on your own growth. 🌱

🚨 A viral online effort to buy Spirit Airlines as a crowdfunded company is getting more serious.
The “future CEO” Hunter Petersen provided an update — they are now up to $132 million in pledges and working with a top-tier law firm to put forth a legitimate offer next week.

This is histotripsy: focused ultrasound blasts destroy cancer cells mechanically in minutes, sparing healthy tissue completely.
