I’d like to think that Connor and Leon are good guys.
But then I think about how Patrice Bergeron publicly objected to the Bruins drafting Mitchell Miller because it was contrary to the team’s core values and I sometimes wonder.
Makes me nostalgic. And a little sad.
It was cool being part of that little corner of the internet. I don’t quite belong with the folks who are part of the “new” community.
But I remember how it was. And it makes me smile.

BREAKING: For the first time since the Iran war began, JPMorgan says it no longer has a baseline view on oil, writing "we simply don't know how to model the endgame," and that the assumption that the Middle East disruptions are temporary is "becoming increasingly difficult to sustain," per JPMorgan Global Research.

Jim, I think you’re answering the wrong question.
Who gets more back than they pay individually is a tax-incidence point. The independence question is different: how large is the pool of tax dollars Albertans send to Ottawa, and how much of that pool would be available if Alberta delivered those services itself?
Ottawa collects more from Alberta than it spends in Alberta. Fraser Institute’s StatsCan-based estimate for 2024 is about $77B in federal revenue from Alberta vs. $52.5B in federal spending here—a $24.5B gap.
That does not mean “Alberta writes a cheque to Quebec.” It does mean that, holding the tax burden constant, an independent Alberta government that assumed those functions would have more money available for services than Ottawa currently spends in Alberta.
