Fan Fiction is transgressive. It co-opts the creator's vision. It steps on it. It is fiction built on fiction. There can be no canon in it. I say do it, have at it. I have tried it and my Destiel is better writing than my Wincest. My Johnlock is better than both. 1/2

Reuters report: Tesla lied about cars' range (including deliberately overoptimistic projections on range meter), triggering 1000s of user complaints and requests for service when cars under-performed, then formed secret team to cancel their appointments: reuters.com/investigates/spe…

ALT Snippet from article: "Inside the Nevada team’s office, some employees celebrated canceling service appointments by putting their phones on mute and striking a metal xylophone, triggering applause from coworkers who sometimes stood on desks. The team often closed hundreds of cases a week and staffers were tracked on their average number of diverted appointments per day."

a LOT of people have asked me about podcast hosts who do paid ads during pods.
are they like influencers or endorsers--do they need to disclose material benefit & must they only share what appears to be personal opinions/experiences if they're their true opinions/experiences?

Highly recommend this podcast about the “Taco Tuesday” trademark. WSJ reporter @jdeavila explains the phrase was used by restaurants as early as the 1930s to describe the sale of tacos on Tuesday. No restaurant should own a TM registration for such inherently valuable expression: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.…

The tax angle may be unfamiliar to some, and has become v. important since 2017. Also, obscure but super-valuable way to dodge CA or other state income tax by paying yourself a "pension" you collect when you're retired in a tax haven (thx to a very dumb 1996 federal law).

I remember the era when lots of tech journalism consisted of credulously repeating company press releases. That wasn’t good. But the fix is not to credulously repeat critics’ and regulators’ press releases instead.
