In a world marked by geopolitical tension, economic inequality, and cultural division, the vision of “One Family under God” offers a powerful framework for cooperation and shared responsibility.Full article: uk.upf.org/one~family~under~… This idea, at the heart of the work of the Universal Peace Federation, recognises that humanity shares a common spiritual origin and therefore belongs to one global family. Rather than erasing cultural, national, or religious differences, this vision celebrates diversity within a broader human community while affirming the dignity and value of every person. UPF expresses this vision through three guiding peace principles: • Interdependence – recognising our shared global responsibility • Mutual Prosperity – ensuring development benefits all • Universal Values – cultivating ethical leadership and character Through dialogue, leadership initiatives, interfaith cooperation, youth programmes, and cultural exchange, UPF works to translate these ideals into practical action aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Peace begins when we recognise that the wellbeing of one community is linked to the wellbeing of all. If this vision resonates with you, consider joining the UPF Peace Network to receive invitations to dialogues, leadership programmes, and community initiatives advancing a culture of peace. #OneFamilyUnderGod #UniversalPeaceFederation #Peacebuilding #EthicalLeadership #GlobalCooperation #CultureOfPeace

Dr. Ján Figeľ, the EU's first Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief, just nominated Dr. Hak Ja Han for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The category he chose: "Peace and Fraternity between Nations." Not humanitarian aid. Not religious outreach. The advancement of friendship between states. The nominator is a man who helped free 25 people convicted or persecuted for their faith across Pakistan, Sudan, Iran, and Cuba He has spent his career holding governments to account on human rights. He knows the difference between faith work and diplomacy. That is why the category matters. "Fraternity between Nations" is not a designation for relief workers or spiritual figures. It is reserved for those who bring nations closer to one another. In 2025, leaders from 117 nations gathered in Seoul under Dr. Han's convening. Sitting heads of state, year after year, for more than a decade. That is a documented record in international peacebuilding. Figeľ read that record. Then he signed his name.

The international press isn't covering this. Dr. Jan Figel, the European Union's former Special Envoy for Religious Freedom, has formally nominated Dr. Hak Ja Han of the Family Federation for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize — while she sits in a South Korean detention cell. His nomination cites six grounds: thousands of interfaith peace ambassadors deployed globally, Korean reunification summits, the Sunhak Peace Prize, UN ECOSOC consultative status, a proposed DMZ International Peace Park, and cultural diplomacy through the Little Angels Troop. Figel wrote that many international observers regard her detention as politically motivated, aimed at silencing her global peace work. US Vice President JD Vance also raised her case directly with South Korea's Prime Minister in official bilateral talks. When an EU diplomat files a Nobel nomination and a sitting US Vice President flags a detention in official talks, the story is bigger than one courtroom. What does it take for a story this significant to reach the headlines?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Universal Peace Federation International Welcomes Nomination of Dr. Hak Ja Han for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize Nomination Recognizes Decades of Global Peacebuilding, Interfaith Dialogue, and Korean Peninsula Initiatives NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 3, 2026-- Universal Peace Federation International (UPF International) today announced that Dr. Hak Ja Han, co-founder of the Universal Peace Federation, has been formally nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize by Dr. Ján Figeľ, former European Union Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief and president of FOREF Europe. The nomination recognizes Dr. Han’s decades-long contributions to international peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, humanitarian cooperation, and reconciliation efforts, particularly in relation to the Korean Peninsula. In his submission, Dr. Figeľ highlighted several key initiatives: Interfaith cooperation: Appointment of thousands of Peace Ambassadors worldwide to bridge religious and cultural divides Korean Peninsula peace initiatives: Organization of international “Rally of Hope” summits promoting peaceful reunification Humanitarian recognition: Establishment of the Sunhak Peace Prize honoring global peace advocates United Nations engagement: Collaboration of UPF and the Women’s Federation for World Peace through General Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) 38th Parallel Peace Initiative: Proposal to create an international peace park in the Korean Demilitarized Zone Cultural diplomacy: Global outreach through the Little Angels Children’s Folk Ballet of Korea “Dr. Hak Ja Han has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to peacebuilding rooted in dialogue, cooperation, and respect for human dignity,” said Dr. Figeľ. “Her work has consistently brought together leaders and communities across ideological, religious, and political divides.” “Dr. Hak Ja Han’s life work represents a remarkable and sustained investment in peace,” said Dr. Tageldin Hamad, President of UPF International. “Through institution-building, global dialogue, humanitarian engagement, and cultural diplomacy, she has helped create platforms where cooperation can flourish and where the ideals of peace are translated into practical action.” Born in what is now North Korea and shaped by the experience of war and division, Dr. Han has dedicated her life to promoting reconciliation and strengthening families and communities as foundations for lasting peace. She co-founded the Women’s Federation for World Peace in 1992 and the Universal Peace Federation in 2005, both of which have grown into global networks supporting peace initiatives. The nomination also comes amid reports regarding Dr. Han’s current detention, which has raised concern among observers in the international community. According to public reporting, the matter has drawn attention among policymakers and diplomatic observers. Nobel Peace Prize nominations are confidential, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee receives hundreds of nominations each year. A nomination does not imply selection but reflects recognition of significant contributions to peace and international cooperation. About Universal Peace Federation International Universal Peace Federation International is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting peace through dialogue, education, and cooperative initiatives. UPF holds GENERAL consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and supports programs in interfaith cooperation, sustainable development, and international collaboration. Quick clarification — I'm seeing plenty of reports that #Ukraine has ordered 18 IRIS-T SLM fire units. Some even report they have ordered 18 additional ones. I just want to clarify that they have not ordered 18 additional ones, but 18 total, and that shouldn't be news for most people. But I guess all these news reports have confused some people, so I'll briefly explain. Since Russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine has ordered several batches of IRIS-T SLM fire units (all including two additional IRIS-T SLS launchers) over the past years, with mostly Germany paying the bills (Norway also participated). So far, 9 of these 18 IRIS-T SLM fire units have been delivered, with the latest one joining the Ukrainian Air Force in early December 2025. With the current pace, all remaining ones will be delivered until the end of 2028. Given that IRIS-T (SLS/SLM) is one of the most performant Western-provided air defence systems with a nearly perfect interception rate and since the Ukrainian Air Force will further transition to modern equipment, I'm 100% convinced there will be additional orders in the future, even when a “peace” deal would be signed at some point in the following years.

Japan locked a man in an apartment for 12 years. Not prison. An apartment. His own family held him there. His crime? Joining a religion the government didn't like. Toru Goto was 31 when his relatives abducted him. He was 44 when they finally released him. His weight had dropped to 88 pounds. He hadn't seen the sky in over a decade. Here's what most people don't know. This wasn't one rogue family. Over 4,300 Japanese citizens were kidnapped and confined by their own relatives to force them to abandon their religious beliefs. For decades. The police knew. They called it a "family matter." The courts knew. They refused to prosecute. Protestant ministers worked as "professional deprogrammers" for hire. Lawyers coached families on how to confine their adult children. The government looked the other way. The UN Human Rights Committee formally condemned Japan in 2014. Japan ignored them. Four UN Special Rapporteurs sent an official letter expressing "serious concern" in 2024. Japan still hasn't responded. The UN Special Rapporteur on Religious Freedom requested to visit Japan. That was March 2024. No answer. Now here's where it gets worse. The deprogrammed victims were pressured to sue the church to prove they'd really left the faith. Those lawsuits are now being used as the legal basis to dissolve the entire religion. In 2024, Japan announced a plan to "re-educate" children of religious minorities in public schools. A democratic nation systematically violated the human rights of its own citizens for 40 years. Now it's using the fruits of that abuse to finish the job. When deprogramming ends, you just change the method. You can read the full report on this from the UN here: refworld.org/reference/annua…
