In Italy, parents typically send their kids to daycare from 8:30am to 4:30pm. These are kids age 2-6. Eight hours a day. For a toddler. This is purely to cover the taxes the family has to pay to the state. If there were no taxes, one parent could stay home and still have a relationship with their own children and raise them. Regular legal school begins at age 6 and is only five hours per day, after which parents typically send their kids to “homework help” for several hours, obviously so the parent can work. Insanity. Income tax is another insidious way that the state gains the power to raise your kids. Normal schooling with reasonable hours is one thing, this is another level.
True. The LLMs will happily recommend a complex retry mechanism, and I have had to step and tell it to fix the problem upstream.
I'm an avid user of coding agents, but there's something I've been struggling to put into words which I think is encapsulated well by these screenshots. these are two PRs to fix the same bug: the first is a +627 / -291 line change, from Claude, the second is a +3 / -2 line change, from Matt, a human (we closed the former and merged the latter).
there's a certain coherence in a human's mental model of the codebase which makes some bugs trivial for humans and still really difficult (or token-expensive) for agents. this goes beyond just better memory of the codebase. humans will build a mental map and a probability matrix for which parts of the codebase are most likely to surface a particular bug, given the codebase's coherence, and start by tackling those before going another layer deeper.
without matt's contribution we might well have merged the +627 / -291 PR, in turn losing coherence, and becoming more token-dependent as a result. after you lose coherence it's game over.
i've found myself pair programming with agents on tiny PRs after a huge amount of independent research / agent swarms to tackle a given problem, and I think this is pretty effective; you can combine the things that agents are naturally good at (parallelization, verifiable problems) with your human coherence. often this results in 15-20 PRs, not all of which get merged.
- it's 2032
- flats in city centers still expensive, but
- self-driving cars are ubiquitous, and
- cheap af to go 30km any direction
- 90% of office work force is AI, basically everyone's remote
where would you live?
I hope omarchy mobile delivers what I hoped maruos.com would
Replying to @derekmross
@derekmross I got Omarchy Mobile running rootless on top of android! And bonus it can drive an external display
This is still king

Introducing Graphical.
It's a simple, powerful, and fun tool to design visual languages, style components, and work with coding agents to create interfaces that look memorable and feel unique.
I hope you'll check it out at graphicalui.com!
I predict I'm soon going to go through another period of ai psychosis. This time with a home server, self hosted setup with the help of @marttimalmi's nostr vpn
Quick, someone spend some $$ to make an AI video of Usain Bolt running this way
An engineer that built this 400m-running humanoid robot explained the wild form:
▫️initially designed it with human arm swing
▫️but swinging arms too much put heavy load on shoulder joints, led to overheating (and robot couldn’t finish 400m)
▫️robot invented the new running style on its own (hands held up near face to reduce shoulder load while legs could keep trucking)
▫️per Global Times, “in a simulated learning environment…the team gave the robot continuous rewards, and through repeated iteration on the data it gradually settled into a posture that suited it better.”
