Huge S/O to Coach Held. Considered one of the best in player development and not only has meant so much to Defiance but to high school baseball everywhere. Congrats, Coach Held!
With some outstanding fielding play, Defiance (21-4) closes out an 8-7 comeback win over Oregon Clay (15-8) to win Tom Held his 800th career game.
Held is now 800-181 in stops at @ElmwoodAD, @BHSGoldenBears and @DefianceBBall and 597-108 with Defiance

Pitchers...when in trouble...stop sweating your ass off trying to throw harder! You're not in trouble because you're not throwing hard enough, you're in trouble because you're not commanding the baseball. Help the hitter get himself out! Locate the baseball! PITCH!!

When you choose to play baseball, you choose to play the most difficult, self esteem destroying sport on the planet. It will reveal much about your makeup and will also help develop stronger personal qualities over time. Champions know we grow more in adversity than comfort. It’s an honor to play a game that tests and teaches, both at the same time. Don’t let the game define you or convince you that you are somehow less of a person when things don’t work out. It’s a game, play it. Learn from it…grow from it.

The biggest difference between avg and great?
Great players keep getting back up.
