A footnote from Stephen Dolan's Algebraic Subtyping, in reference to a paper by Redko: "This paper is out of print, in Russian, and quite difficult to get a hold of, so the interested reader is directed to a shorter proof by Conway [Con71, p. 105], which is merely out of print."

I have a huge list of stuff I've wanted to build and never had the time for. Now I'm building things every weekend.

I don't know if you guys are fans of Orson Scott Card or not, but
Ukrainian-developed FPV drone simulator “Remote Reaper: FPV Drone” has officially left Early Access, with version 1.0 now available on Steam. Developed in collaboration with military pilots, the simulator focuses on combat FPV drone operations and introduces several features in its full release, including armored vehicles with modeled vulnerable zones, electronic warfare effects that can disrupt video feeds and control signals during the final stage of an attack, and a customizable drone editor. Version 1.0 also adds configurable weather conditions, custom mission editing, real-time flights with other pilots and a racing mode. Players can use FPV hardware or a gamepad with realistic flight physics, or opt for simplified controls using a keyboard and mouse. #RemoteReaper #FPV #FPVDrone #DroneSimulator

Why didn't my elementary school teacher explain it like this, it would have been much simpler

Yes, multiplication is basically convolution, in the frequency domain it's just a pointwise multiplication

Ten years of Sad Affleck memes and it turns out he'd just been trying to install CUDA drivers the whole time.

Someone in our office keeps scheduling meetings for 12:01 so they technically aren’t “lunch meetings.” Today I joined one while eating a sandwich. The organizer sighed and said, “I was hoping we could all be fully present.” I said I could either be fully present with a sandwich or partially present while thinking about one. Three people immediately unmuted and started eating. One woman had an entire plate of spaghetti ready beside her laptop. The meeting ended at 12:14 because the organizer said the chewing was distracting. It’s the shortest meeting we’ve had all year. We’re bringing soup tomorrow.

Being a dev today using frontier AI feels like I'm playing Watson to Sherlock Holmes. I just stand back and go "my word holmes how did you deduce that" and occasionally stop him from getting shot
