It is with heavy heart that the music world has received the news of soprano Jodie Devos' death to cancer, at the age of 35. She was a beautiful artist, vibrant and radiant of sound and presence, & I send my deepest condolences to her colleagues, her friends and to her family.

Stopped at Goldthorpe where I was stationed in the 1984 miners strike. Like Hatfield the pit has been long gone and replaced by a housing estate with an interesting street name and estate agents sign. Note the emblem on the street sign.

Stirred a few memories from before the days of the nevere ding eighties.
#joegormley.
All the war rhetoric used in #TheMinersStrike1984 was tedious plus the over dramatised role of #DavidHart.

HS2 was meant to run from Euston to the North of England.
As it stands, it won’t reach either.
Without private funding, it will go from Birmingham to a London suburb.
The half hour saved, will then be lost travelling on another train, to Euston.

Very sad to hear of the death of the wonderful Welsh actress and singer, Glynis Johns (1923-2024) at the age of 100. She was one of the last surviving major stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood. #Sondheim wrote, ‘Send in the Clowns’ for Johns’ unique voice. RIP

I have to come clean, my take on #IsraelPalestine relations was greatly influenced by the 2004 HBO movie #DeathInGaza, where I saw how easily the Israeli forces make decision to end someone's life - imagine the US Police, but on a tank. They killed the cameraman and the producer

The last ride: Israel's cycling community faces unthinkable losses
The riders who were gunned down.
The cyclists who hid under a bush for hours, playing dead.
A 15-year-old cyclist who was ambushed, shot at, and became a hero.
These are just some of the stories of the Israeli cycling community. Read more: bit.ly/3PWEZVU
