The Rowling Library has closed its doors. Thank you to every reader who was part of this journey.

If only my ten-year-old self could see this… What a journey. And it all started with Harry. Thank you, @jk_rowling.

The Rowling Library (2015)

🚨 New from TRL Books 🚨 Ghost Plots: Analyzing the stories J.K. Rowling left out of the Harry Potter books J.K. Rowling called them ghost plots: storylines, characters, and ideas she developed for Harry Potter but ultimately left out of the published novels. This book explores twenty of these lost stories, reconstructing each one through Rowling’s interviews and examining how it would have fitted into the series. I woke up today to the news that The Rowling Library’s YouTube channel has been taken down by YouTube. According to the information provided by the platform, the removal followed claims submitted by The Blair Partnership, the literary and entertainment agency that represents J.K. Rowling. Some of these claims related to videos that had been uploaded to the channel more than four years ago. The Rowling Library’s YouTube channel was probably the largest multimedia archive of J.K. Rowling material online, including appearances, interviews, and other rare footage that is not available elsewhere. Its removal also means the disappearance of a significant amount of material that I had worked to preserve and make accessible over the years. The channel was entirely non-commercial. It was not monetized through advertising, tips, donations, or any other source of revenue. Thank you to everyone who has spent minutes or hours watching the material over the years, leaving kind comments, and appreciating the archival and restoration work I carried out on many of these videos.

Thomas Taylor created the cover for the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. These original drawings and sketches (some of which were never used) are now part of The Rowling Library Collection. Our mission is to preserve and document the literary history and cultural legacy of @jk_rowling’s work.

Thank you and enjoy ❤️
