Catholics confess directly to God. Protestants attack the priest as a "middleman" because sacramental confession requires what their private version avoids: contrition, accountability, and the humiliation of actually naming your sin.
The Bible says to confess your sins to one another. Christ gave His apostles authority to forgive and retain sins. It does not teach "go hide alone, say a quick prayer, and call that repentance."
A quick "God forgive me" costs nothing. Real confession humbles you, exposes your sin, and demands that you actually turn away from it. Something the majority of Protestants simply do not want.

The Church thrived without the Bible for longer than the existence of the United States. Then it thrived 4x longer than that before common Christians could read the Bible or get their own copy.
Sola Scriptura (“Bible Alone”) denies oral tradition and 2000 years of expertise under apostolic succession.
“So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15

Ilhan Omar coming into the United States as a ‘refugee’ daughter of a Somalian military officer implicated in mass murder, and then exploiting her diaspora ‘community’ (a scam culture) for political power…
There is a comic novel here. Vanity Fair of the 21st century.

I’m watching a Protestant service on TV. So far There’s a rock band on. A preacher came out and asked the congregation for 10% of their money. Now there’s a smoke machine. Preacher is yelling at the congregation about tithing again. Now he’s reading one of Paul’s epistles. He butchering the interpretation. Now he’s doing an emotional manipulative altar call asking if you’ve accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. My take: the gospel isn’t preached here. Just a bunch of modern rituals meant to get people to give them money. Seems more like a ponzi scheme than a church.

The investigation into Ilhan Omar started under the Biden administration, but you can always count on Barack Obama to be as dishonest and misleading as possible
It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

John Adams in 1776
His arguments against giving women, children, and poor men the right to vote:
"But why exclude Women? You will say, because their delicacy renders them unfit for practice and experience, in the great business of life, and the hardy enterprizes of war, as well as the arduous cares of State. Besides, their attention is so much engaged with the necessary nurture of their children, that nature has made them fittest for domestic cares.
But will not these reasons apply to others? Is it not equally true, that men in general in every society, who are wholly destitute of property, are also too little acquainted with public affairs to form a right judgment, and too dependent upon other men to have a will of their own? If this is a fact, if you give to every man, who has no property, a vote, will you not make a fine encouraging provision for corruption?
There will be no end of it. New claims will arise. Women will demand a vote. Lads from 12 to 21 will think their rights not enough attended to, and every man, who has not a farthing, will demand an equal voice with any other in all acts of State."

The fact that Obama is freaking out to this extent about Omar is a sure sign that we’re directly over the target.
