This was moments before we walked out for Katie’s pro debut in 2016. At the time, we had no idea where the next ten years would take us. We were just focused on that night and the work in front of us. And then somehow, you blink and it’s over. That’s something I hope young fighters understand. Wherever you are in your career right now, it won’t last forever. The years that seem endless while you’re living them will eventually feel like they passed in an instant. So give it everything you have. Train hard. Make the sacrifices. Chase whatever it is you’re chasing. But try to enjoy it too. That part isn’t always easy when you’re deep in the grind. There’s always another fight, another camp, another problem to solve. You’re so focused on what’s next that you don’t always appreciate where you are. Someday, you’ll wish you could have one of those days back. It goes fast. Make it count

So much of my boxing feed is filled with people arguing about who sold more tickets, who brought in more fans, who deserves more credit. For Katie’s final fight, over 80,000 tickets sold in less than 20 minutes. Not once did Katie brag about it. She never made it about herself. Instead, she spent her time thanking the people who supported her and expressing how grateful she was for everyone who came along for the journey. There’s a lesson there for young fighters. You don’t need to constantly tell people how important you are. You don’t need to remind everyone what you’ve accomplished or how many tickets you’ve sold. Work hard. Treat people well. Stay humble. Appreciate those who support you. Give people a reason to root for you. Katie did that for her entire career. And 83,000 people showing up to say goodbye speaks for itself.

10 years of grinding. One last walk. Still doesn't seem real. 🥊🍀

Thank you for the mention 👊🏼
