All successful cities have long-term plans to ensure communities prosper. Since 2008, Sustainable Sydney 2030 has underpinned everything we do. It featured ideas like George Street light rail that seemed near impossible – yet here we are, nearing completion of our civic spine.

With around 6,000 trips recorded each week, Pitt Street has been our most successful pop-up cycleway – so last night we voted to make it permanent. That means the safe separated cycleway, and the wider footpath for walking and outdoor dining, will be here to stay.
