Senator Bernie Sanders and I stand with the nurses and healthcare workers who put Prop 40 on the ballot. Governor Gavin Newsom stands with Peter Thiel, Sergey Brin and Elon Musk, Trump backers who all oppose it. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in. In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes. In Spain, for affordable rent and housing. In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption. @JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south. He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment. The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few. This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future. In America, let us listen to our young. We need an economic and political transformation. America's Next New Deal.

I unequivocally condemn violence and vandalism. I have always championed my grandfather's example of non-violent protest. Let us not be blind to the anger young people have against the unholy alliance of wealth and power. The billionaires buying politicians. The corruption.

Funny, I was going to ask the same question. Does CAP support and does it think it’s constitutional, as we do, to create a wealth tax on billionaires? Either on a state level as the grassroots wants in California and/or on a federal level as Sanders and Khanna have introduced?

Thanks @MarkPocan and for your vision and leadership. There is also a difference between a debate with others in our party over issues (billionaire tax, medicare for all, repealing Laken Riley, no aid to Israel) and going after people personally. I'm for the former, not latter.
Maybe a little self-awareness, @neeratanden. Look through your own feed. Throughout the Wisconsin Primary up to the election you’re trashing one candidate & we asked you to please keep it down. I agree going after each other at certain times is bad. But may I suggest a mirror?

This November, California can tax billionaire wealth to pay for health care for children or ban it forever. Sergey Brin and Peter Thiel are bankrolling the ban with Newsom as their cheerleader. I am standing with California labor and am a yes on Prop 40. latimes.com/opinion/letters-…

Politics shouldn’t just happen to young people. They should have a say in shaping what comes next. Join Rep. Ro Khanna in Berkeley on October 21st for a Students for Solidarity town hall. Come share what’s on your mind, ask questions, and hear from others about the future they want to build. mobilize.us/rokhanna/event/1…

I have always said my values were shaped growing up in Bucks County, PA. I ask myself what would the kids I grew up with on Amsterdam Ave say about this. More astute below than most pundits.
Replying to @Mason__McCann
Ro Khanna grew up in the Philly suburbs and, as somebody that lived in the same Bucks County as he did, the "Ro Khanna" cycle has always been how somebody navigates learning from a hyper swingy region (not what Chuck Schumer did) He's potentially more competitive than you think

Isn't @RoKhanna reminding people there are Democrats who will stand up to corporations, billionaires, and powerful interests helpful for the Democratic brand as people decide how to vote in the midterms? Isn't Newsom sending a signal that Democrats are corrupt and in bed with powerful interests harmful to candidates on the ballot?

Not staying quiet about a failed status quo in the name of unity. Not going to betray voters done with the donor class. Tax the Billionaires Medicare for All Free childcare Free college and trade schools No Aid to Israel I am a New Deal Democrat, not a Chuck Schumer Democrat.
Can Pres candidates please hold off in attacking other possible candidates until after the midterms? Support a ballot initiative-- you don't have to attack.

I am still waiting for my apology, Mr. Herzog
I just called Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was brutally attacked by violent rioters on Friday. As President of the State of Israel, I strongly condemn this outrageous and shocking violence, both the terrible attack on Heidi and other grave incidents of violence, such as what took place today in Taybeh. I expressed my deepest sorrow to Heidi and apologized for what she went through. The despicable behavior of the perpetrators of this attack does not represent the citizens or the values of the State of Israel. Israel is a democratic state governed by the rule of law, and it must act with full force against every form of violence. Each incident is being thoroughly investigated, and we await the findings. All government, security, and law enforcement authorities must use every means at their disposal to investigate thoroughly, apprehend these lawbreakers, and bring them to justice with the fullest extent of the law. On behalf of the entire nation, I wish Heidi good health and a speedy recovery.

Netanyahu called me a liar when settlers detained me, along with a NYT photographer, in Zanuta this past July. Now, he is calling a Washington Post photographer a liar. Netanyahu, you are the liar with the blood of Palestinian children on your hands.
The Prime Minister’s Office: The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation. Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable. But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual. The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence. We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.

Israeli settlers beat Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine. She said attackers picked her up, then threw her down again and kept kicking. They operate with impunity. We need to cut off aid to Israel that is used to fund settler activity, and stop the sales of these weapons.
Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks. Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. wapo.st/4yt6dHY
