Ah terrible news. Always loved the chats with Eddie over the years. A regular character in Leinster CC for many a year. Condolences to his family, friends and all at Railway Union
EDDIE TILLAIN RIP Cricket Leinster is saddened to hear of the passing of Eddie Tillain, long-time stalwart @railwaycricket and an enduring, dedicated supporter of club cricket in Leinster. Deepest sympathy to his wife Phyllis and his many friends in the cricket community.

ECB all over the place, as per usual. It’s one thing for players to play for their country v Afghanistan, but you have to question players choosing to play there, purely for a pay check . Do they not have sisters, mothers or daughters?
ECB will grant NOCs for English players to play in the Afghanistan Premier League in Dec-Jan (subject to ICC approval) despite refusal to play Afghanistan in bilateral series Pope, Vince, Roy, Moeen among those registered for October's draft @cricinfo cricinfo.com/story/england-p…

If you’re not willing to shake the other players hands before the game, you shouldn’t be playing the game at all. #stopthegame

Cricket Ireland are lucky hardly anyone follows cricket in Ireland, or their Afghanistan series would have got the same backlash and opposition the Israel game is getting now. #stopthegame

I don’t understand how 8 players stood up and said the game shouldn’t go ahead, but are still playing the game. I think it will come out in due course that everyone involved was under massive pressure from outside powers. #stopthegame

Can we assume from everything that has gone on today, that the first time ALL the players were asked to vote on whether the game should go ahead was earlier today? If that’s true, FAI have some serious questions to answer, and I’m surprised more players haven’t walked
The Ireland players (minus Gavin Bazunu) take to pitch in Debrecen to train before playing Israel tomorrow.

It’s not just football that has this problem. Most professional athletes and management aren’t allowed speak up for what they actually think.. or they might lose their job. I don’t blame them. They have families to support. The governing body on the other hand has no excuse.
Republic of Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson is asked if he regrets saying Israel is commiting genocide #RTEsoccer

A war gets labelled a genocide when one side goes too far. It gets a new name so the world makes a special effort to stop it. It’s to stop people thinking there is anything normal about it. Normal things like football matches against the country should stop. #stopthegame

You have to wonder who is pressuring the FAI from above. Government? UEFA? Sponsors? All of the above?
The FAI have made a balls of this. Whatever decision is made.

Shambles that the players have to make a stand. Left out to dry by their Association.
The FAI should've taken this decision out of the players' hands @IrelandAMVMTV 🎥

History will remember how the world carried on playing them in sport and inviting them to singing competitions, while they carried on murdering thousands of children, right in front of us. #stopthegame
Republic of Ireland Manager Heimir Hallgrimsson has said his comments saying his side are "not playing with genocide, we’re playing against genocide. We’re playing against Israel, we’re not playing with Israel" have taken focus off tomorrow night's game against Kosovo. Hallgrimsson said he was grateful for the support he had received after the Israeli FA said his comments displayed "stupidity, ignorance and hypocrisy". #VMSport #VMNews #FAI #Israel

I’d be shocked if the ETPL doesn’t make it to year 3 at this point, and then it’s a 50/50 if it survives or not. Apart from putting stands up in Malahide, they’ve got most other things spot on, and exceeded my expectations

If they were expecting engagement or interest from the Irish cricket public they were very much mistaken. Anyone who has followed Irish cricket for the last year or two could have told them it was never going to supported in year one.

They still need to do a lot of work in actually understanding European cricket but they got a lot right. Cricket Ireland and the other two governing bodies HAVE to promote the tournament and get behind it. Crazy that they didn’t.. for the players sake at the very least.
