When does coincidence become a pattern? Miles Guo challenged Edward Moss’s move to Cahill, the very firm holding GTV’s confidential information Beijing wanted.
GTV demanded answers. Cahill never responded. Instead, Cahill defended Moss, arguing PAX wasn’t targeting GTV, even though Moss had previously called Guo and GTV “inextricably linked.” No notice. No conflict waiver. Ethical safeguards arrived late. Then, on December 6, Cahill exposed GTV’s privileged information on the public docket for over 14 hours, calling it an “inadvertent filing error.”
First, the CGI–Duowei mystery. Then Moss’s move right after the SEC settlement. Then another exposure. Why did PAX’s lead lawyer land inside the firm holding GTV’s secrets?

🇨🇳 The most important video you'll ever see about Chinese communism.
Historian Sarah Paine explains how Mao killed more people than ALL combined deaths in World War II. Yes, communism is really that evil.
It was all done on purpose too. There was no mistake. Mao did this and the CCP never paid a price.
Why did Edward Moss join Cahill? The court never asked. Judge Barry Ostrager disqualified Cahill from representing PAX but expressed “utmost respect” for Moss’s integrity, calling him “an exceptional advocate.”
In October 2021, Guo dropped a bombshell: He accused Moss of engaging in sexual misconduct involving young girls alongside former CCP justice minister Fu Zhenghua in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Was CCP influence behind Moss’s move to Cahill? Remember Beijing’s “political trust”—not built on integrity, but on weakness and leverage. Judge Ostrager praised Moss’s integrity. Guo saw through the mask.

2026.10.17 (EP71) Judge Barry Ostrager knew when to recuse himself. But did he apply the same standard in Miles Guo’s cases?
In 2021, Ostrager withdrew from a Blackstone-related case over financial ties through his former law firm, Simpson Thacher. Yet in Guo’s PAX case, he stayed. Blackstone acquired a stake in PAG, PAX’s investment manager - a deal handled by Simpson Thacher. Then came Pangu’s lawsuit against Alibaba and BBMG, alleging that a CCP kleptocratic network seized its property through a sham online auction facilitated by Alibaba, another Simpson Thacher client.
Ostrager stayed again and dismissed the Pangu case.
One judge.
Three cases. Two involving Guo. Two different recusal decisions. Why?

That’s infiltration if I’ve ever seen it.

Oct 12: Alameda County Superior Court judge Pelayo Llamas granted David Xu’s petition to dismiss his felony poisoning conviction — Xu poisoned his coworker Rong Yuan with cadmium during 2017-2019. The relief, commonly called “expungement,” means Xu will no longer have to disclose the conviction to private employers. He served just one day in jail and two years of probation, despite facing up to life in state prison.
Yuan attended the hearing and read a victim impact statement. Assistant District Attorney Priscilla Vuong also opposed the dismissal, according to Yuan. Xu did not appear in person or virtually. His attorney appeared over Zoom, according to Yuan.
Xu, a former materials characterization expert at a Berkeley engineering firm, was arrested in 2019 and charged with attempted murder and two felony poisoning counts. According to a Berkeley Police Department report, Xu put cadmium into his coworker Yuan’s “food and water on multiple occasions.”

‼️ California metallurgist David Xu, who pleaded no contest to poisoning a colleague Rong Yuan, is seeking to have his felony conviction dismissed, years after hidden-camera footage exposed him contaminating her water bottle with toxic heavy metal cadmium ‼️
David Xu, a metallurgist at Berkeley Engineering and Research, spiked his colleague Rong Yuan’s food and water with cadmium — a toxic heavy metal — for nearly 18 months between 2017 and 2019. As Yuan suffered debilitating symptoms, hospital visits and fear of a terminal illness, Xu maintained a deceitful facade, even suggesting her illness was caused by “mold” in the office.
His poisoning campaign only unraveled in early 2019 when Yuan set up a hidden camera at her desk, capturing Xu in the act of tampering with her water bottle.
The video evidence led to Xu’s arrest in Mar 2019 on charges of attempted murder and poisoning, which also affected Yuan’s parents, who had inadvertently consumed the poisoned water.
Xu faced up to life in state prison.
After his arrest, Xu was released on $2 million bail. He then received repeated modifications to his home confinement, with his travel restrictions eventually fully lifted,
A judge set bail at $2 million, and Xu was released on GPS monitoring. In April, Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed a motion on behalf of the state engineering board, calling Xu “a highly trained and unusually sophisticated criminal defendant” who “used a number of chemicals in his work.” A judge agreed with the AG’s order and barred Xu from practicing under his state engineering licenses during the case.
In the ensuing months, the court granted Xu more and more leniency. By July, he was allowed 6 hours out of the house each week to take his daughter to ballet and gymnastics classes. In Oct, he received 6 more hours out of the house on Sundays. In June 2021, he was granted “an additional day with kids.” By Sep, he was allowed an additional 2 hours every day of the week. In Nov, his request to end house arrest was granted. By Apr 2022, he was allowed to travel within the U.S.
In Sep 2023, Xu pleaded no contest to a single count of poisoning under a deal offered by prosecutors under Alameda County district attorney Pamela Price, with one year of felony probation and one day of credit for time served. A no-contest plea carries the same weight as a conviction but is not an admission of the underlying facts.
Yuan had sought nearly $500,000 in restitution. A judge ordered her paid $7,058, citing a report Xu’s attorney had submitted by a toxicologist who concluded that cadmium poisoning would not cause long-term health effects.
Xu finished his two years of probation in March. On Oct 12, he will ask an Alameda County judge to dismiss his felony conviction — a process commonly referred to as “expungement.” Under state law, a person who completes every condition of probation is entitled to expungement, and California appeals courts have held that judges cannot deny those petitions unless the crime is on a short list of exclusions — poisoning not being one of them. A dismissal would not erase the case; Xu’s record would still show an arrest and conviction to law enforcement, and the conviction could be used against him if he is charged with a new crime. He would also have to disclose it on applications for state licenses.

2026.10.14 (EP68) Cahill held GTV’s confidential financial records, corporate information, and private communications—exactly what Beijing wanted. In late 2020, GTV’s banking records mysteriously surfaced in PAX’s judgment enforcement demands. Investigator CGI pointed to a secret Chinese source, then a CCP-linked Duowei blog. GTV demanded answers. Judge Ostrager denied discovery.
On October 14, 2021, Cahill announced Moss as a partner, one month after GTV’s SEC settlement. Five days later, Moss appeared as PAX’s attorney, at the very firm that had represented GTV.
Moss changed firms. Not sides. He kept pursuing Guo, from inside GTV’s former law firm.
