The Bitcoin four-year cycle confuses a lot of beginners.
Here’s how to make sense of it in a few minutes.
A Thread 🧵
4/
People have spotted patterns around past halvings. Analysts still can't come to a mutual conclusion on whether they’ll repeat.
Four halvings is a small sample. It’s like guessing next summer’s weather from four old diary entries.
The halving runs on a fixed schedule. The market runs on people.

“Is now the right time to buy?”
Nobody can tell you that. Not us, and not any confident voice online.
We are here to help you understand complex topics like these so that you can decide for yourself.
Learning how it works makes the headlines sound less like noise.
What confused you most when you first got into crypto?

Price alone doesn't tell you the size of a project. Market cap does.
Supply plays a role too. Bitcoin can never have more than 21 million coins. Plenty of other projects don't have any ceiling at all, so their supply just keeps growing.
4/
There's a term for this: market cap.
Market cap is the price of the whole pizza: price per slice times the number of slices. That's the total value of every coin out there right now.
3/
Here's an easy way to think about it. Picture a crypto project as a whole pizza.
The price of one coin is the cost of a single slice. The number of coins in circulation is how many slices the pizza got cut into.
2/
Most people think, if I buy the cheaper coin, I get more coins for the same amount. So they end up buying the $0.05 coin.
It's one of the easiest mistakes to make when you're starting out, and that instinct is wrong more often than you'd think.

People ask why Bitcoin has value. Here's the honest explanation.
There's no factory behind it. No government backing. Nothing physical.
So, what gives it value?
It's a fair question. Most answers are either too technical or too promotional. Here's a plain version.
A few things.
Bitcoin has held value for over 15 years. Here's why:
🔹 Only 21 million Bitcoins will ever exist. That cap is written in the code and no one can change it.
🔹 Millions of people worldwide use and trust the network. That scale is what gives it staying power.
🔹 Nobody controls it. No company. No bank. No government. The rules are set in code and apply to everyone equally.
🔹 15 years of crashes, headlines, and regulatory pressure but Bitcoin is still here.
None of these things guarantee a price. They explain why people assign value to Bitcoin.
Those are two different questions, and they're worth keeping separate.
What convinced you Bitcoin was worth understanding?
"Why is my Bitcoin still stuck for over 30 minutes!" - A customer messaged us one day.
They weren't losing their mind. Their Bitcoin wasn't lost either.
Here's what was happening when their transaction showed pending:
🔹 Bitcoin doesn't move through one company's system. It joins a global queue shared by every transaction happening at that moment.
🔹 That queue is sorted by fee.
Higher fee = picked sooner.
Lower fee = you wait.
🔹 Once it's out, you can't cancel it. It's already in the queue. That's why we show you the fee and wait time before you confirm.
The customer's Bitcoin arrived shortly after. The network was just doing its job.
A transaction which shows “Pending” doesn't necessarily mean lost. It means the queue is working.
Ever stressed over a slow confirmation?
Over the past decade and half, Bitcoin's price has moved in distinct multi-year phases, not randomly.
