Well then call me a retard, because Mars must have forests.
My main concern about these Data Centers is how is Brent Spiner gonna be able to be in so many places at once
This is just what everything is now. Ask the computah things because you can't look them up. Cook the prompts till you get what you want. If one model won't comply use another. Everywhere casino. Everything computer.
If smoking weed makes you a lazy bum, it was always gonna be some excuse. I prefer to enjoy vices in moderation because I'm not a lazy bum, which is why I don't get hammered drunk more than once a year and get to work on rockets. Good fortune is a sweater you knit yourself.
A bunch of landowners were mad they were gonna be taxed and had nobody to argue on their behalf, so they sent a strongly worded letter to the king. Now we, their descendants, have no king and our flag is on the moon. Happy 250th to The Aerospace Republic, Let Freedom Ring.
For my part in the discourse, of the DVDs that have stayed in my possession in low humidity environments, I've had 1 in 30 disks rot. DVDs stored by family in higher humidity environments have had 1 in 15 NOT rot. Rip those DVDs 🪦
Before streaming, I was a big DVD collector. I bought nearly a thousand movies. I thought I was building a library. And I will tell you a secret:
DVDs rot.
The glue that holds the layers together can become opaque so the laser doesn’t read the disc properly or it can simply degrade so the disc falls apart or it can warp or expand so the disc won’t spin properly in the drive.
So, in addition to needing to keep antique hardware with delicate moving parts in working order to play these games or watch these movies, the media itself is degrading.
Yeah, your purchased digital movie might get deleted from the network over rights issues at some point in the future or the service that provides it might shut down. But if you buy a BluRay and put it on a shelf for five years and then decide to watch it, there is a decent chance it won’t work.
I love a beautiful Criterion movie box set or a game with cool box art and a manual as much as the next guy, but people overly romanticize physical media. The universe is governed by entropy and everything is falling apart.
Having to learn the rules of The Social Game is hard, but it's also doable. Literal children do it! It's also a Game so playing it can be fun in and of itself. It's tiring to see ND people accept the NT framing of "you don't get social interactions" instead of learning The Game.
A core rule of The Social Game is to respect others knowing they won't respect you. The meta is to tell yourself you're late if you're not 10 minutes early and it resolves a lot of neurodivergent timing issues, and gets people to give you grace when you are unavoidably late!
Ya know, If:
- they generate their own power
- they dont build in ecologically precious areas
- they don't continuously deplete local water supplies
- they pay taxes based on their economic output
Then we should be fine with the datacenters.
Or we should put them on Luna.
In real life, I beat the person making us all chose a button with hammers until they stop. Because I don't choose to participate in a death game that undermines the social fabric.
My contribution to mailbox discourse is thus: I like how these look amd I dont think a bat is taking it down.
Don't do this

"I want to encourage everyone out there watching today to change their withholding ... you will get an automatic real wage increase on a weekly or a monthly basis."
The best fish are mammals
The Vatican once declared a 150lb rodent to be a fish
Venezuelan clergy wrote to Rome in 1784
They were surrounded by capybaras and facing 40 days of Lent
Their description: semi-aquatic, webbed feet, tastes like fish
Rome had never seen one, but approved it
Capybara is still a traditional Good Friday delicacy in Venezuela today
The dispensation was never rescinded

if youre interested in hydroponics its cool as fuck, ive been doing it for years. Its cheap as dirt to start, you can do it with a cup or a jar or who gives a fuck whatever holds water. You can get one of these standard fucking yellow top storage containers (like 8-10$) drill out holes for net cups cups (like $8) put rock wool into the net cups (like $8 too) put a pump bubbler into the container to keep water oxygenated (like $15) and other than seeds and hydroponic plant food (like $10) you can find cheaper of these items to start too its fun af and you should try it : )
