In this article we discuss the challenges facing the pub sector, the importance of community-owned social infrastructure, & why community ownership shouldn't be viewed as a "too difficult" solution.

ALT A graphic featuring a photograph of a community pub with a large group of local people gathered outside. The pub building sits under a blue sky, with hanging baskets and signage visible. Community members of different ages stand together in front of the pub, some holding drinks, alongside a banner that reads “We Appreciate You. Thank You.” and a large blue number 2 balloon. Overlaid text in the top left corner reads: “Why Community Pubs matter more than ever.”

Accents: The Black Country (West Midlands)
The Black Country dialect is one of the oldest and most historically preserved speech patterns in England. It is spoken across the industrial region west of Birmingham, covering the metropolitan boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton
The dialect retains strong roots from Early Middle English and Old English (specifically Mercian English), having largely resisted the Great Vowel Shift that altered speech in other parts of the country. ⏳️ @Britains___Pubs

🚨NEW: After a months-long investigation, we can reveal that a British national who posed in front of a burning school in Gaza fought for Israel and may have participated in war crimes.

To be clear, the legal obligation on British government to act to prevent genocide does not require it to accept that it is a genocide, it only requires knowledge of a "serious risk" of genocide. To say we'll wait for ICJ decision is a failure to comply with the law.
‘Once you accept it’s a genocide, states have to act immediately.’
Andy Burnham won’t call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide, @NickFerrariLBC asks @HZomlot why not.
Why does Glasgow have so few historic pubs, exhibit A.
A glimpse of the mess created when the M8 was driven through Cowcaddens, #Glasgow, in the late '60s and early '70s. I've marked Stow College as a point of reference. Pic from Glasgow Motorway Archive.

People protesting against the Palestine Action ban at the Labour conference should have placards with this quote from Ed Miliband:
"Gaza mobilised a whole generation of people, and those people were right, not wrong’'.

I'm sick people saying 'It's more complicated than that'. There's a lot of blinkered wilfully misinformed beer bloggers in publand

I still have memory cards and don’t pay for storage. All my CDs still work. This is on you.
They took memory cards from us and made us pay for storage. They took CDs and DVDs and made us pay for streaming. They took software you could buy once and turned it into a monthly subscription. They took ownership, convenience, and basically everything that used to be a one-time purchase… then somehow made us pay for it every month.

Britain did not end slavery. My ancestors in Haiti had ended slavery in 1804, executing all their enslavers and declaring the first Black Republic on the planet.
Replying to @OgbeniDemola
Enough with the slavery ffs! We English ended it. Black peoples still practice it.
Shocked and saddened that the almost 500 year old Brauerei Neder in Forchheim is threatened with closure. Something must be done.
