Very short-sighted decision. This would have been returning the site to a more natural state with massive benefits for biodiversity and helped protect against climate change. ⁦@bbcsomerset⁩ the campaigners are not environmentalists. bbc.com/news/articles/c86l8w…

All getting a bit messy on here and now that the billionaire brat who now owns it is stirring the shit, I think it is time for another Twitter break. Dropping off for a while. Be well everyone.

#NotionalPark. Our national “protected” areas are a total joke.
Wild Lakeland@WildLakeland31 Jul 2024
Shocking scenes in Grasmere... Verges and hedgerows sprayed with weedkiller, obliterating almost all life and even leaving mature hedge plants struggling to survive. No wonder insects are vanishing. What a great advert for the Lake District National Park. This. Is. Ecocide.

Yesterday our family dog was attacked by a wild boar. It reminded me of the fragility between humans & wildlife and how easily we forget that wildlife are exactly that… WILD. I have no anger towards boars despite this freak accident, but I wish others shared this view. 🧵(1/2)

And so it came to pass that most birders had to remove Wilson’s Storm-Petrel from their lists, because it got split. How do we break it to those still mad about the Redpoll situation? mapress.com/zt/article/view/…

Doñana NP has a massive dog problem. 6 female Lynx killed. This is a massively underestimated global problem.

One of the blue #sharks we tagged off Cornwall 12 days ago was given a SPOT tag, which reports to satellites when it comes near the surface. We hadn't heard from her since then, but last night she checked in, over 2000 miles away off the Canary Islands! Extraordinary!! 🦈

What is the correct term for a seabird when it rests (but may not be resting) on the sea? It has not "landed", it is not "sitting", it is not "perched". Is there a term (I may be being very stupid) or are we missing a word?
