RAPIST JAILED AFTER DRAGGING 15-YEAR-OLD SCHOOLGIRL INTO ALLEYWAY IN BROAD DAYLIGHT — BEFORE LEAVING HER £10 A man who raped a 15-year-old schoolgirl in broad daylight after forcing her into an alleyway has been jailed for nine years. Deangelo Brown, 23, targeted the teenager as she waited for a school bus near Harlesden High Street in northwest London. Brown approached the girl and ordered her to follow him into an alleyway, leading her to believe he was carrying a weapon. Terrified, the schoolgirl complied before Brown raped her. After the attack, Brown left £10 in cash for his victim before walking away. The girl was later found distressed and sobbing in her school uniform after witnesses nearby heard screams and cries coming from the alleyway. One passerby came to her aid, contacted police and remained with her until officers arrived. Brown was arrested nearby shortly afterwards. A witness had also recorded footage of the incident on a mobile phone after becoming alarmed by the screams. The prosecution relied on CCTV showing Brown in the area, mobile phone footage of the attack and identification evidence from the victim. Brown denied responsibility and claimed he had been the victim of mistaken identity. However, a jury rejected his account and found him guilty of rape and sexual activity with a child. He has now been sentenced to nine years in prison with a further four years on licence. Kerry McNulty, from the Crown Prosecution Service, described the case as a “horrific sexual attack in broad daylight on a child in school uniform”. She said prosecutors had presented CCTV, mobile phone footage and evidence that the victim had identified Brown during an identity procedure. She added that Brown had shown no remorse and had forced the teenager to endure a trial despite what prosecutors described as overwhelming evidence against him. Four Afghan nationals have been jailed after a 17-year-old English girl was groomed, brought to Bristol and repeatedly raped over several hours. Three of her attackers later fled Britain in the back of a lorry. French authorities found them in Calais and they were returned to face justice. The girl had met Mehrab Safi while Christmas shopping with a friend. He contacted her on Snapchat and began grooming her before arranging for her to travel from Somerset to Bristol by taxi in the early hours of 30 November. Safi and Salman Habibkheil met her before taking another taxi to a house in St Werburghs. There, miles from home and surrounded by people she did not know, she was given vodka and cigarettes before the attacks began. Bristol Crown Court heard that Safi raped her before the other defendants each isolated her in a bedroom and sexually attacked her. The ordeal ended after her mother contacted police. Officers traced her to the house and arrested the youngest defendant when he answered the door. The other three fled, travelling to Birmingham and London before escaping across the Channel three days after the attack. Footage recovered from Safi’s phone showed them inside the lorry, with Habibkheil laughing and gesturing towards the camera. All four were convicted. Their sentences were: Mehrab Safi, 21: 15 years in prison for two counts of rape and one count of human trafficking. Salman Habibkheil, 19: Nine years in youth detention for rape and human trafficking. Awal Ahmadzai, 19: Nine years in youth detention for rape and assault by penetration. A 17-year-old, who cannot legally be named: Two years and seven months in youth detention for rape. He was 16 at the time of the attack. For their victim, the consequences reach far beyond the courtroom. She described being unable to leave home alone, relying on her mother or best friend to accompany her. Even the thought of going out by herself causes panic. Man sentenced to 24 years for multiple counts of s3xual abuse Jawhir kasir has been sentenced to a total of 24 years for sexually abusing two girls and attempting to rape a vulnerable woman while she was recovering from surgery. Jawhir Kasir, 47, abused the girls in the late 2000s. He repeatedly touched them inappropriately, carried out sexual acts in front of them and made one girl touch his genitals over his jeans. Following a trial at Warwick Crown Court, Kasir was convicted of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration, engaging in sexual activity with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity in a child’s presence. He was also found guilty of attempting to rape the woman. The damage has lasted far beyond the offences. In statements to the court, the victims described nightmares, flashbacks, shame and struggles with trust and relationships. One said she felt her “life and future were taken” from her. Kasir, of Middlemarch Road, Coventry, was assisted by an interpreter during the proceedings. Kasir will serve 14 years and eight months in custody before serving the remainder of his sentence on licence Kasir was barred from contacting any of the three victims.
