@DavidHorne @LNER as a rule, the public simply do not care about their 4hr20 journey becoming 20 minutes faster, they just want it to run, and they just want it to be 4hr20 as booked. I’d guess most people would accept it being 5hr20 if it ran reliably and to time.
As @DavidHorne ‘s @LNER are proud of the huge revenue increase they’ve created by “simplification” of fares you’d think they’d make it mildly passenger friendly by allowing 70 min flex to include the next or previous service automatically in cases where they fall outside 70 mins.
One of the biggest increases to rail fares in the last 5 years is not the increase to the price itself but the absolute decimation of your rights as a passenger. The railway no longer has your back. The railway no longer takes any responsibility for your well being.
Yes. Providing the ticket was valid for travel on the route you took & it permitted break of journey or finishing short. The operator will almost certainly reject it & you’ll have a farce on your hands but you are entitled to DR. How it’s calculated in value is tricky though.

Am I entitled to delay repay on a cancelled Dundee - Edinburgh yesterday when the ticket was to Glasgow (because I was stopping for longer in Edi anyway so it didn’t materially affect how late I was getting to Glasgow, only Edinburgh
When will people see that Trainline are just playing at it? They’ve no grasp of the rail industry, no grasp of rules and no grasp of how important it is to keep their infrastructure running. They should be stripped of their accreditation. People need to wake up and go elsewhere.
It’s a shame Grand Central don’t feel it necessary to include everyone when explaining alternative transport arrangements. Attached image with description. Sadly a little late to be helpful in this case but maybe it will prompt them to consider all passengers in future.

No provisions for Retford passengers as usual. Tell us you want to close Retford without telling us you want to close Retford.

Well. I’ve somehow made it to 40 years old. Speaking of 40, it’s nearly been 40 working days since my train was delayed over 5 hours and LNER and XC bounced my delay repay back and forth. Wondering if a letter to railway biased ombudsman or a letter before action should be next?
So here we are on day 1 of the LNER pricing scam. Let’s take a look at what’s available to buy ticket wise today between London and Edinburgh. Every train up to (not including) the 1500 would have been a maximum of £87 until today, and you could have boarded any train.
Further to my post the other day regarding the LNER simplification. Would anyone be able to explain how this is focussed on simplification? Tuesday 6th Feb (2nd day of the new fares) and no advances on various trains forcing the anytime ticket of £193.90 instead of £87
The 0930 train has advanced in first class available that are cheaper than the standard class anytime. It’s interesting that these don’t display by default instead recommending the £193.90 ticket. Maybe just as a result of the settings chosen.
Anyone still on the fence about the REAL intentions of LNER and their new fare "simplification"?
A train on 9/3/24. Ordinarily the £83.80 Super OffPeak would have prohibited more expensive advances being sold, not any more. A 66.5% fare rise. Of course, nobody will read this!

@LNER @DavidHorne so on 24th Feb I want to travel from KGX to NCL. I wanted to travel with my friend who is only going as far as YRK and works for Grand Central. As such the plan was to get the 1318 to YRK and then whatever is next to NCL as they travel free with GC. Ordinarily >
> It may look more simple on the face of it by having less ticket types but it is over twice the price for (on a Saturday) zero more flexibility than before. I strongly urge you to consider the full details of this profit focussed scheme. You’ve had a couple of days to see the >
