Emily Hand was 8 years old when Hamas kidnapped her from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7th. In captivity, she was starved and threatened with a knife to stay quiet. When she came home, she was so afraid to speak that her dad had to put his ear to her lips just to hear her whisper. Now, Emily is recovering by learning to surf with @HaGalSheli. HaGal Sheli, which means “My Wave” in Hebrew, uses surf therapy to help kids across Israel heal, build confidence, and find their footing again. Emily says, “It’s unpredictable, just like life.
