Bears highlights from today:
- awesome drive at the end of Q2
- Austin Booker beating Jordan Morgan one-on-one
- Jaylon Johnson's 2027 cap hit won't be a problem
Penn State faces a huge test with a short week road trip to Northwestern amidst the pageantry of new Ryan Field. PSU should be focused, motivated.
One problem: while the defense is pretty good despite no pass rush, the offense stinks.

Penn State played their first Big Ten game under Matt Campbell on Saturday. It didn't go great. And with the way things are shaping up for the program, it looks like Campbell's tenure could be over just as it began.

Incredible series from TJ Edwards there. Whiffs on Saquon on 1st down, stuffs Saquon on 2nd down, and nearly baits Hurts into a pick on 3rd down with a PBU.
I suspect they'll go back after Devin Bush next time!
Negatives: we don't have a LT (Benedet has been particularly brutal), Devin Bush has one great play and about six complete misses, and Roush remains unplayable
Positives: Coach Keenum getting it done, Luther balling out, Loveland in the gameplan, and right side of OL shining.
More negatives: Jaylon and Muhammad abandoning Wicks. Yikes! Refs not calling offisde on Ojomo on 3rd and six.
More positives: Taylor and Blackwell on that punt! Mitchell not turning that 4th down goal line pass into a 99-yard pick-six
Carson Wentz singlehandedly keeping the Bears in this one.
Ryan Poles's offseason not exactly shining today. C Garrett Bradbury: awful. TE Sam Roush turned a scoring drive into a punt by not knowing the play; also whooped on some blocks. LB Devin Bush dropped a gimme pick. Oof.
Despite the ugly play thus far from the Bears offense, there is a shining star: Colston Loveland's blocking. Loveland erased Caleb Banks -- a 6-6, 327 lbs. 1st rounder -- on Monangai's first big run. Tremendous effort from Loveland.
I expected a big drop-off from Drew Dalman to Bradbury. But this? Dalman committed four penalties in all of 2025 and absolutely led the OL. Bradbury looks completely washed and has mixed in knowledge and quickness penalties, a devastating combo.
As a reminder to Bears fans who are curious about why Garrett Bradbury stinks, remember that two franchises (MIN and NE) had the chance to pair the veteran center with their young QBs to grow together...and both sent him out of town instead.
Uniquely bad half from a subpar C.
Replying to @GBraggsJr23
@GBraggsJr23 2 nuggets for you:
1. I took my daughter to her 1st game last year. An all-time great memory.
2. As I tried to wrap my mind around today's 8-TD offensive explosion, I went back to 2005. Bears won the North! And they scored 8 offensive TDs in 2nd half of the season!
Here's what I think happened in Michigan-WMU (1/2):
So it seems that the ball is declared out of bounds and the play is dead the moment it touches the end line's air space because it was subsequently touched by an out-of-bounds player. The rulebook is squirrely on this.
(2/2) The Big Ten replay booth had to determine that the ball clearly touched out of bounds air space with at least 1 second on the clock. Because the player who first makes contact is an out of bounds player, the ball is out of bounds before he even touches it. Super weird.
I already made my picks for the 2026 season, detailing my thoughts on the Bears' specific position groups. But that wasn't a collection of all of my thoughts. There are plenty of other specific predictions for the upcoming year.
Here are a dozen of them: huffonsports.blogspot.com/20…
This is going to get dumb and technical.
(1/4) Alright, play through this with me. It's December. Nittany has made an unexpected run to the CFP despite a horribly underwhelming pass rush. Everything else came together but the pass rush didn't get there.
(3/4) In light of the recent court ruling, is there anything to prevent Dani Dennis-Sutton from deciding that he'd like to be a Nittany Lion again in December and January, then return to the Packers for the off-season?
