This story is wild.
If you’re tempted to vote for separation to “send a message,” please read it.
The only “message” your vote will send will be one of credibility and encouragement for the absolute loons profiled here.
As the story shows, they can’t even get along with each other. Imagine these keystone cops trying to negotiate secession while running a $400 billion economy.
These bootlickers went to Washington with no mandate from anyone. They offered to give away our water, rights to our oil, and ultimately our sovereignty to a foreign power.
As the story reveals, a bunch of them want to turn Alberta into some weird extension of the Christian nationalist wing of MAGA.
We *do* need to vote to send a message: that their campaign to collude with a foreign power, turn us against one another, and destroy our country ends decisively on October 19.
A Michigan delegation travelled to Calgary to sell separatists on software developed for Republicans to get out the vote – and how it could be used to wrench Alberta from Confederation.
For David Parker, an organizer for Alberta separation, the software was the path to victory – one that ultimately resulted in a massive privacy breach involving the sensitive personal data of nearly three million Albertans.
But Parker’s embrace of the Michigan delegation is evidence of a pattern: separatist factions in Alberta eager to engage the U.S. in their plans for secession, and American actors willing to assist, either privately or openly.
Through interviews with The Globe on both sides of the border, people involved in politics, the corporate sector and Alberta’s pursuit of separatism have described persistent efforts by figures in the U.S. administration and conservative political establishment to support groups seeking American expansionism and independence for Alberta.

As an Alberta MP you should probably know we are the only G7 country without a strategic oil reserve because we are the only G7 nation that is a net exporter of crude.
National strategic reserves are maintained to meet an obligation to the IEA to hold 90 days of net imports on hand. That obligation for Canada is zero barrels. There is ~95 million barrels of private storage in Canada.
Strategic reserves protect importers from supply disruption, not cost. Product released from reserves still generally enters the market at the global price. To truly get the price down, we need to resolve global challenges with supply and refining capacity.
We’re keeping prices down in Canada by pausing the excise tax on gas, giving a groceries and essentials benefit to those who need it most, and working with provinces and companies to increase global supply, alleviating upward pressure.
Why doesn’t Canada profit from releasing oil and diesel from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve? Because we are the only G7 with no reserve.
Our Conservative plan changes that. Build a strategic reserve to profit Canada, boost our dollar, lower fuel prices, and make us more independent: conservative.ca/cpc/emergenc…

Pacific Link is Canada's new pipeline to the Pacific, and today it was listed a project of national interest.
By moving up to 1M barrels a day to global markets, it will make Canada a true energy superpower: diversifying trade from the U.S., creating 140,000 jobs across the country and generating over $20 billion in GDP per year, all while making Canadian heavy crude the lowest-carbon in the world thanks to the Pathways carbon capture project.
Here's what this listing means for Canada, and what happens next 🧵 [1/3]

For worms
Not Covid
Or cancer
That's just silly
Just a reminder:
@CNN told you that Ivermectin was Horse paste and wasn’t for humans…

We're in a trade war with Donald Trump. The Americans are using their enormous economic power to try to get their way with Canada.
Smith's answer is to make Canada weaker and Alberta more isolated?
How exactly does that give us more sovereignty?
Stay in Canada. No to the Nine.
