Bikers, next time you head out on your bike, think about everyone you love
Remember, it’s not just you who crashes
Expect the unexpected
Drivers – look again for a motorcyclist, a glance is not enough

Finish the sentence: "I knew it was a close call when..." Whatever comes to mind, you're not alone. More than a third of UK drivers have experienced a near miss in the past year. Don't wait for another one to remind you to check your tyres. #TyreSafetyMonth #ACTBeforeYouREact
Excessive speed for the road or the conditions remains a major cause of road deaths and serious injuries in Northern Ireland, especially on rural roads with higher speed limits.
You’ll always lose control to speed.

Why not check your tyres over the weekend as October is #TyreSafetyMonth.
Drivers and riders are encouraged to adopt a habit of performing the three key tyre checks.
ACT: Air Pressure, Condition & Tread.
#TyreSafetyMonth.
People who walk or ride are more vulnerable when using the road.
Drivers – remember to give cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car.

People continue to be killed on our roads because
people continue to take risks like these.
So, before you go near a road, or get into a vehicle

Whether you are a driver, motorcyclist, or choose to walk or cycle – all road users are being reminded of their personal responsibility to drive, ride, cycle and walk in a way that keeps both themselves and others safe as they share the road.

🚗 Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) has now launched. But what exactly does it involve? 🤔
GDL introduces a number of changes that will affect learners and newly qualified drivers, helping support them as they build experience on the road.
Watch to see the key measures. 👇

October is #TyreSafetyMonth
Take ACTion by checking:
- Air pressure
- Condition
- Tread depth

As the leaves start to fall, the wetter weather sets in and the roads become more treacherous, October is #TyreSafetyMonth and it's a good time to get into the habit of checking your tyres regularly.

Tyres are the only part of your motorcycle, scooter or moped in contact with the road surface so it is essential that they are properly maintained and in a legal and roadworthy state.

Two-thirds of people killed or seriously injured in road traffic collisions here in Northern Ireland, occur on rural roads.
All road users need to be aware of the vulnerabilities we all face when we travel on country roads.

Drivers should watch out for horses on the road, especially when approaching bends and on narrow rural roads.
They should always slow down when seeing a horse and drive past slowly, giving them plenty of room and being ready to stop if necessary.

Did You Know?...
...On average, over 2/3 of all road fatalities in Northern Ireland have occurred on rural roads.
Different environments pose different hazards - be aware of the dangers.

When you’re driving remember:
Just because you’re at the speed limit, doesn’t mean you’re not dangerous.
Just because you’re driving, doesn’t mean you have right of way.
Just because you’re surrounded by metal, doesn’t mean they are not flesh and blood.

When you park on the pavement, you reduce driver visibility at junctions.
Be mindful of the consequences of parking your vehicle on a pavement and think about the needs of others.

Poor road user behaviour is the leading cause of road traffic collisions in Northern Ireland.
There are no second chances when a thoughtless or careless action meets an unexpected hazard.
