We’ve got used to hearing how awful the UK’s knife crime problem is. It still is.
But in Greater Manchester medics also believe something is slowly starting to change.

Brilliant book that all emergency physicians (and everyone else) should read.
My new book is out this week.
It's a story about a lot of things, including - what happened to me in 2022 , the NHS, Emergency Medicine, body image, hiding in work, and zumba.

I frequently get requests to do something different in EDs for a specific patient group. Here's the thing, asking us explicitly to prioritise one condition is also tacitly asking us to deprioritise others.
Thanks @RCEMevents @RCollEM for the invitation to speak and opportunity to network with colleagues across the Pennines

Thought provoking commentary from @rmjenner on ‘adultification’ which will particularly resonate with those working in adolescent trauma. Especially important for mixed adult/paed trauma services where it takes careful joint working to navigate adc.bmj.com/content/early/20…

Fantastic article by @rmjenner et al.
I’m been guilty of the adultification of young people in whom I’ve managed as older than the child they are.
Safeguarding, vulnerability and mental health issues make this a very complex area with no easy answers.

Funded by the VRU, the Parent and Carer Support Team (PACS), has successfully supported more than 100 parents and carers across Greater Manchester through a new initiative.
The programme supports parents and carers who have concerns about their child. They may have noticed a change in their child’s behaviour, and/or, suspect that their child is involved in violence, criminality or potentially being exploited.
