Secretary Carroll and I just unveiled a $837 million plan to expand the port and add a new berth for the first time in 50 years! And thanks to these investments, we're going to increase container capacity by 122%, including increasing auto capacity by 18% or over 100,000 additional cars — and in total, creating 6,000 MORE good-paying jobs.
This port has a long and storied history as a vital part of the Philadelphia waterfront and an important global center for trade. With today’s investments, we’re continuing that legacy for generations to come.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of Harvey Weiner, a valued member of the Philadelphia port community.
Larger than life in the cocoa industry, Harvey was affectionately known by many as the “Cocoa King.” During his nearly six decades with his family’s business, Dependable Distribution Services, Harvey served as president and helped build it into the largest cocoa bean storage company in North America while establishing Philadelphia as a port of choice for cocoa. He was the driving force behind bringing cocoa cargo back through the Port of Philadelphia in the early 1990s.
Harvey’s unmistakable presence, personality and lasting contributions to our port community will be deeply missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Proud to officially open @PhilaPort's new cruise terminal and celebrate the return of cruising to Philadelphia.
This is another major step forward for our Port, our city and our region. We’re just getting started. 🚢
