HEARTBREAKING UPDATE: THE AIRMAN WHO FELL TO HIS DEATH AT THE UTSA FOOTBALL GAME LEAVES BEHIND A WIFE AND TWO YOUNG BOYS. We now know the identity of the U.S. Air Force member who tragically fell approximately 150 feet during a military rappelling demonstration at the Alamodome in San Antonio on October 17th. His name was Technical Sergeant Ian Patterson, a decorated Air Force veteran with 15 years of service. Ian was participating in a pregame demonstration honoring our military before the UTSA - Navy football game when something went terribly wrong. He descended at a dangerously high speed and struck the field in front of thousands of spectators. He was rushed to the hospital but tragically did not survive. Ian was a husband to Niki and a father to two young boys. Niki is a stay-at-home mother who homeschools their children. Ian was their primary financial provider. Ian spent 15 years serving our country. He served in Korea, Colorado, and Germany, and was recognized as the Air Force Special Warfare Enlisted Instructor of the Year in 2022. A GoFundMe has been established to help Niki relocate closer to family, provide for her children, and handle potential legal expenses. Please pray for Niki and these two little boys. From his childhood in Southwest Miami, to his college days at FAMU, to his legendary MLB career, “The Hawk” has represented Florida in the best possible way for decades. His generous support of FAMU and its baseball program has helped generations of student-athletes succeed. The Governor’s Medal of Freedom is the highest honor I can bestow on any Floridian, and Andre Dawson truly deserves this recognition.
