So proud of all the work done on representative history by our brilliant team of teachers across the Trust. It’s been amazing to see the response from students as they learn more about some vital aspects of our history.
Aware of BET’s trailblazing approach to reforming the history curriculum, .@itvnews reporter @ChloeKeedyITV paid a visit to @bohuntsixth, in Liphook. Read more here ⬇️ bohunttrust.co.uk/news/itvs-…

A bill to ensure teacher ‘loyalty’? Great opinion piece on this.
Simply unreal: A GOP bill in New Hampshire targets "negative" depictions of US history. Its explicit goal: To ensure teachers retain "loyalty" and don't push "subversive doctrines." This McCarthyite effort could be a model for more to come. My latest: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

I studied history at university and took a number of modules on nazi history. When I asked my lecturer what happened to Black Germans, he responded that there “wasn’t really any.” And this is how erasure happens seamlessly in the classroom.
"Don't give up, and defend yourself with confidence." Theodor Michael Wonja was one of the last Black survivors of forced labor camps in Nazi Germany. This is his story.

Good introduction to the different states of US. Essentially a league table of best and worst in which to live. Great discussion starter even if some caution needed as re how you measure each criteria. usnews.com/news/best-states/…

Great piece on the significance of the defeat of Biden’s voting rights bill in the Senate. Democrats lacked the 60 votes to stop a filibuster, and two Democratic senators (Manchin and Sinema) even voted against a rule change on the filibuster. theguardian.com/us-news/2022…

Our very own @rjhammal writes about how BET links literacy work in History with external partners, providing CPD for staff, building confidence and students' understanding - with @DriverTrust ow.ly/o8Y950HqHSZ
So good to work with literacy experts at the Driver Youth Trust developing literacy in History, so that our fascinating and essential subject is accessible to all our wonderful students. Strongly recommend contacting the DYT if you want to move literacy forward in your school.
We've loved working with @Bohunt_Trust over the last few months, helping them to develop disciplinary literacy in their history depts. Thanks @rjhammal for putting together this case study for us! Looking to improve literacy outcomes in your school? Find out how we can help!
