For Putin and his team of pseudohistorians: This French essay was published 70 years before Moscow grabbed the title russia (still a questionnable move). Apparently, the 17th century French saw Ukraine as a nation under the Polish realm.
Contained between Muscovy and Transylvania, a book on their customs, ways of living, and of making war.
Muscovy back then did still not have access to the Black Sea and Poltava was Polish/Hetman. Ukraine was a nation.

The year is 1994; the U.S. President is asked whether he is prepared to defend Ukraine should Russia attack.
Watch the video to see how the American President responded:

According to Le Monde, citing sources, U.S. special envoy Witkoff held a tense meeting in Florida on October 9 with Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office.
Sources claimed that Witkoff spoke to Budanov “like a child,” trying to “teach” him how to make money.
Witkoff proposed a postwar “regional prosperity plan” that included fully restoring Russian oil and gas transit to Europe through Ukrainian territory.
Witkoff argued that Ukraine would earn transit revenues while Europe would benefit from lower energy costs.
Budanov reportedly replied that Ukraine’s model is “not Belarus, but Poland,” then stepped out to call President Zelenskyy, who advised him not to show any reaction.
When the talks resumed, the Ukrainian side was shown a document outlining a U.S.-Russia diesel deal.
An irritated Witkoff reportedly said: “Accept this diesel deal and stop striking Russian oil refineries — you are putting the world at risk!”
Ukrainian participants were described as shocked, viewing the plan as creating dependency on Moscow and noting that the United States appeared to have secured nothing in return from Putin.
A source close to the delegation told Le Monde: “I have never seen the Ukrainians so stunned and alarmed after a meeting.”
Analysts contrasted the episode with the February 28, 2025 Oval Office incident, saying this one involves concrete policy decisions that could affect Ukraine’s ability to defend itself ahead of a potentially harsh winter.

Lavrov should not be allowed in the country. As long as Putin is waging war against Ukraine and bombing cities, Russian leaders should not be welcomed in any of these forums. They lead a pariah state.
Fully aligned, russia is on the defensive.
Ukraine is now an integrated part of Europe's defense architecture. russia has no leverage on Europe. The US has no leverage on Ukraine.
I have got to be honest. I dont think we are anywhere near the end of the war in Ukraine.
Russia shows no signs of being willing to compromise or being reasonable or realistic. Now they apparently raise a demand that the rest of Eastern Europe have to leave NATO. And they still want to have all of Ukraine.
Europe is not going to abandon hundreds of millions of people in Eastern Europe to live under Russian tyranny again.
We are ten times stronger than Russia and we are not going to agree to such insane demands.
Russia is on the defensive in Ukraine. Over the past six months they have lost - not gained - territory. Their oil refineries are destroyed. Their economy is being crippled and there is no victory in sight for them. Compared to Europe they have a small population and a very small and not very advanced economy.
The only problem is that Russia does not understand this and continues to act like they can bully and threaten their way to dominance over a Europe that is so much stronger than them.
We want peace. Of course. Since the fall of the USSR we have shown no aggression to Russia but have only wanted to live as good and peaceful neighbours. There is literally nobody in Europe that wants war with Russia. It is a mindset that does not exist.
But we are not going to surrender to Russia's insane idea that their weak country has a right to rule half of Europe. As long they stick to that, there will be no settlement. So the war will probably continue for a long time which is a tragedy and a disaster.

It’s worth repeating that the “root cause” of the 🇷🇺 war against 🇺🇦 is Vladimir Putin. Nothing less.

Zelenskyy needs to go? Sure. To Crimea. With the Ukrainian army.
Yep, Putin. You were never saving any people in Donbass, stopping any Nazis. You were claiming what you believe is rightfully your in a world defined by your hegemonial view of the russian cultural sphere.
Dig yourself a hole and hide.
Russian President Vladimir Putin cited genetics to declare that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” and reiterated his claim to Ukrainian territory, saying: “I think that it is not their territory but the historical territory of Russia.” wapo.st/48aZaZF
Did russia just reject another peace proposal from the US?

There is NO “neutrality clause” in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. No ban on NATO membership. No Russian veto over Ukraine’s foreign policy.
There IS an explicit commitment to refrain from economic coercion against Ukraine.
Before invading Crimea and intervening militarily in Donbas in 2014, Russia was already using economic pressure to dictate Ukraine’s choices.
In 2013, Moscow obstructed Ukrainian exports and explicitly threatened further trade restrictions if Kyiv signed an agreement with the EU. Putin’s adviser warned of billions in losses and default.
That is precisely the kind of coercion paragraph 3 prohibited.
Russia’s disregard for its commitments didn’t begin with the invasion. The economic pressure came first.
Stop inventing obligations Ukraine never accepted to excuse Russia breaking the ones it actually signed.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

With all due respect to Elon Musk - and I do respect him - I would suggest he needs to understand the facts of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
