the portion of the loan attributable to unrealized appreciation should be taxed as a capital gain when you borrow against it. simple, elegant, and fair.

this idea is kind of genius. if a bank is willing to lend against an appreciated asset, it's helping convert unrealized gains into spendable cash. the loan isn't technically income, but you've found a way to consume your wealth without ever realizing the gains.

Close the loophole that allows billionaires to live tax free by living off untaxed loans until they die. Start taxing the loans they take rather than selling equities.

1/8 Trump just told Americans who have bodies that sometimes get sick (and prefer not to die) to #GoFundYourself! So we did. We’ve launched a $723B GoFundMe to replace what he’s stealing from Medicaid. Every $10 cancels $1K in medical debt. Pitch in at GoFundYourself.page

BREAKING: Both the White House and RNCC have lashed out at the creators of this ad. It must have struck a nerve. Maybe they don't like being outed as fascists. You know what to do: SPREAD THIS EVERYWHERE! #MAGAKidnappers

BREAKING: MIT just completed the first brain scan study of ChatGPT users & the results are terrifying. Turns out, AI isn't making us more productive. It's making us cognitively bankrupt. Here's what 4 months of data revealed: (hint: we've been measuring productivity all wrong)

From an operational security perspective, this is the highest level of fuckup imaginable. These people cannot keep America safe.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @JeffreyGoldberg. theatlantic.com/politics/arc…

I went to the Senate floor to lay out for my colleagues the stunning story of brazen, open corruption during the first 6 weeks of the Trump presidency. I think it's a story everyone needs to know. 1/ So a🧵with the highlights from the speech.

I'm proud to be working with Village Health Works Hospital in Burundi to help build a critically-needed NICU. My new baby is now home and healthy and happy, but life started with a short visit to the NICU, and I know firsthand the importance of high-quality medical care in early life. Every baby deserves a fighting chance, regardless of where they are born! 🍼 Donate today: villagehealthworks-bloom.kin…
🚨 Burundi has one of the highest newborn mortality rates. At Kigutu Hospital, too many babies don’t survive without a NICU. Thanks to Sara Spangelo’s initiative, we’re changing that. Help us raise $500K to open a NICU—20% funded & counting! 💚 Donate: bit.ly/3Q7fMIT
