@JharkhandCMO @dc_sahibganj

This frame is very special to me!
An aircraft can't move an inch from its place if it's not for the ones sitting in these towers.
Celebrating these professionals on #InternationalAirTrafficControlDay
A big Thanks for keeping us safe on ground, in air and while overflying!
Fun Fact :: JRD was keen on re-creating this flight once again as part of 60th anniversary and interestingly, he sought all the regulatory approvals. However, his slow reflexes made him discontinue the plan.

4/4 | A pioneering flight. A legacy that continues.
This pioneering flight began the legacy that continues today. The aviation department of Tata Sons became Tata Airlines in 1938 and Air India Ltd in 1946.
Fifty years later, J.R.D. Tata took to the skies once more, recreating that historic journey in 1982.
On this historic day, we honour the vision and people behind the journey that started it all.

The internet may have discovered the #80s aesthetic recently, but we were living it!
By the 1980s, flying Air India was as much about experiencing India as reaching a destination. The iconic Boeing 747s were the "Palaces in the Sky", featuring distinctive red jharokha arches, interiors adorned with Indian art and the famous Maharaja Lounge on the upper deck, creating an onboard experience unlike that of most global carriers.
Air India further distinguished itself through personalised hospitality, with its saree-clad cabin crew becoming globally recognised symbols of Indian warmth, grace and professionalism. In 1986, the airline also inducted its first Airbus A310-300, marking an important step in fleet modernisation and international growth.
By the end of the decade, Air India had become one of India's most visible global brands, carrying the country's culture, cuisine and hospitality to destinations around the world.
Today, that legacy is being renewed through Air India's transformation journey. A record aircraft order, new-generation aircraft, upgraded cabins, refreshed lounges, digital innovations and an expanding global network are helping reshape the airline for a new era. Yet the ambition remains unchanged: to combine world-class products and service with a distinctly Indian character.
The aircraft may be newer and the technology more advanced, but the goal is familiar: to once again build a world-class airline with an Indian heart.

Mumbai’s skyline has lost one of its most iconic sights.
The famous Air India logo that stood atop the 23-storey Air India Building at Nariman Point has finally been taken down.
The 38 × 24 ft aluminium logo, a familiar part of Mumbai’s skyline for decades, was dismantled into 40 pieces by PWD workers after a week-long operation, braving strong winds and rain.
An iconic piece of Mumbai’s visual identity is gone.

Long before they shared the skies, they shared a home.
With an 8-year age gap between them, Sureiya was always the elder sister he looked up to. Growing up in Manipur, Rohit watched in awe as she became the first in the family to pursue a career in aviation in 2014. He listened to stories from her travels, waited for her to return home from faraway destinations, and quietly nurtured a dream of his own.
Years later, he followed in her footsteps and joined Air India.
Today, they share more than childhood memories. They share early morning reports, long flights, changing rosters, airport standbys, and the unique comfort of having someone who understands exactly what the job demands.
And while Rohit still sees the sister who inspired him to dream bigger, Sureiya says there are moments now when she finds herself looking up to her younger brother too, proud of the person and professional he has become.
She still worries about whether he's eaten. He still calls to check how her day has been.
They tease each other, laugh together, share cab rides home after duty, and find comfort in the little moments between flights.
Because while destinations may change and journeys may take them across continents, some things remain constant.
The bond between a brother and sister.

The plural of “aircraft” is “aircraft.”
Not “aircrafts.”
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I flew AI1740 a couple of months ago and departed at 1740hrs.
Worth experiencing the cool coincidence, if not already, as we are down to just 7 more departures ✈️

"For years, whenever I saw an A350 of another airline, I'd imagine what it would feel like to see one wearing Indian colours."
For Air India pilot Bhavya Soni, that dream became a reality with the arrival of Air India's first Airbus A350.
"And then, one day, there it was...VT-JRI in all its glory at Bengaluru airport. In that moment, I wasn't just a pilot. I was an aviation enthusiast all over again. Some moments have a way of making you feel like a kid."
The arrival of the A350 was more than the introduction of a new aircraft. It was a milestone that inspired pride, excitement and possibility.
“Some aircraft enter a fleet. Others become part of a nation's aviation story. The A350 was one of those moments.”

From the vault and legacy of @airindia 🇮🇳
The flag of free India was first unfurled neither on land nor at sea, but quite significantly, aboard an Air India aircraft.
Here’s a remarkable chapter from our history.
On 22 July 1947, the Constituent Assembly adopted the National Flag in its present tricolour form.
Just days before Independence, Vijayalakshmi Pandit was appointed independent India’s first Ambassador to the USSR.
On 3 August 1947, a special Air India flight carried her to Moscow. The aircraft flew bearing the newly adopted tricolour, marking the first time the flag of independent India was unfurled.
Before the nation awoke to Independence on 15 August 1947, the tricolour had already taken wing aboard an Air India aircraft, carrying India’s hopes, identity and sovereignty to the world.
Today, as the new Air India builds for the future, we remain proud to carry that spirit forward.
