Christmas spirit at all time low at @KwikTrip, Mt Horeb PD and Dane Co DA’s office as 100% disabled Vietnam vet thrown in jail over Christmas—for accidentally using a Trump novelty bill to pay for scratch-off tickets.
No one in the chain of all of this exercised any compassionate discretion. Not the KT clerk who was embarrassed she didn’t see an obvious novelty bill. Not the Mt Horeb cops who arrested a confused old man after he had made it right. Not the idiot judge who somehow found “probable cause” that a dementia-confused old man was trying to use “counterfeit” money when novelty bills are NOT considered counterfeit. Not the Mt Horeb PD, who dragged their feet to send over paper work so the family could get this poor old man out of jail for Christmas. Not the Dane Co sheriff’s office that refused to give him pain meds for days and let him languish in a pod with 7 inmates while he got sick to his stomach.
