France is burning and I have to say, watching some of the footage coming out of there today, the hypocrisy is absolutely staggering. Paris. Marseille. Lyon. Rennes. Toulouse. Angers. Buildings attacked, cars burning, shops smashed and looted, police and security forces attacked. Marseille City Hall built in 1653 has been stormed and vandalised, priceless artefacts smashed into pieces. A municipal police station attacked. Lyon’s tourist office set on fire. A fire outside the doors of Cathédrale Sainte-Marie-Majeure. And they are firing firework mortars at police in Paris, Marseille and Lyon. Over 270 have been arrested. Yet it’s people like me who are routinely called “far right” for having an opinion. Question immigration. Far right. Talk about borders. Far right. Raise concerns about integration. Far right. Say something the left doesn’t like. Far right. Apparently that is extremism. But cover your face, dress in black, attack police, smash up public buildings, loot shops and fire mortars at officers and suddenly everyone becomes terribly careful about labels. Well, here’s the problem. The French authorities themselves are calling out the ultra-left. Not me. France’s Interior Ministry says there has been a “very strong mobilisation” of the ultra-left and has described what is happening in parts of the country as “violent and targeted operations”. So let’s stop dancing around it. There is far-left violence on the streets of France. There are Palestinian flags throughout some of these demonstrations too. And before anyone tells me that’s something somebody has made up on X, AFP journalists are providing live video and photographic evidence that Palestinian flags are being carried by these violent thugs who are destroying their towns and cities and attacking police and security services. This doesn’t mean that everyone protesting today is far left. There are ordinary French people out protesting about the cost of living, wages, schools and public services. They have been protesting peacefully in other areas of these towns but their cause has been hijacked by the far-left. We can’t pretend this isn’t happening just because it makes for an uncomfortable picture. Then there is the chant from the far-left: “Louis XVI, Louis XVI, we beheaded him. Macron, Macron, we can do it again.” They are literally invoking the beheading of Louis XVI and saying they can do it again to the President of France. That chant isn’t new either. It has been heard at radical-left demonstrations in France before. Now tell me something. If this were the far right, would anyone be struggling to find the words? Masked far-right groups attacking police across several major cities. Far-right extremists firing mortars at officers. Buildings on fire. Shops looted. A town hall stormed. A police station attacked. And crowds chanting about doing to the President what was done to Louis XVI. It would be called far-right extremism from morning until night. Every newspaper would have it in the headline. Every television studio would be discussing radicalisation. Politicians would be lining up to condemn it. And rightly so. That’s the bit that matters. I am not asking for the far right to be excused. I’m asking why the far left should be. Because I am sick to the back teeth of watching “far right” thrown around at ordinary people who have never burned a building, never attacked a police officer, never fired anything at anybody and never threatened anyone’s life. Our words are apparently dangerous. Our concerns are apparently dangerous. Question government policy and you’re an extremist. Question immigration and somebody will eventually call you far right. But actual political extremists put masks over their faces, attack police and burn their way through cities and we’re treated to endless discussion about their “grievances”. It’s just a ‘clash’ with police, nothing more. No. You don’t get to have it both ways.

No £80 replica shirts. No phones filming every second. No marketing telling you how special it all was. Nobody flying in from Singapore after paying £700 for a ticket. Just lads getting there hours early and queuing forever at the turnstiles. Cold hands, muddy terraces, and all that mattered was bagging your spot on the wall. Football when it was simple. 👏🏻👏🏻

It’s worth remembering. ITV has never "undercover investigated" radical teachings in UK mosques after Islamic terrorist attacks in the UK. But right-wing people saying hurty words gets the full treatment. ITV are part of the problem...
🚨 NEW: An ITV undercover investigation into Reform UK has revealed councillors describing Muslims as “parasites” and ethnic children as “animals” One councillor was shown saying “we need a real nuclear option, like literally, drag them out their homes, stick them on planes and f*** them off to Pakistan”

THE FOREVER WAR Your money. Their war. No limit. £25 BILLION of British public money to Ukraine since 2022. And the billions keep going. Who else wants a full, independent audit of every penny we've spent on Ukraine? Where did it go? Who received it? Who profited? Before Westminster signs another blank cheque, let's see the bloody receipts. #ukraine

Mothin Ali is a Muslim politician in Leeds, which is one of my favourite parts of Pakistan. He's famous for celebrating his election victory by shouting "Allah Akbar! This is for the people of Gaza!" and having a wife who wears the full-on niqab. Not classically English traits. But he appeared at the Green Party conference to say he's as English as a cup of Yorkshire tea. In fairness, tea comes from India, so he's not far off. It would help his case that he's English if he wasn't wearing a keffiyeh, the native garb of distant alien countries, and didn't have a Palestine flag pinned to his chest, and hadn't punctuated his speech with a bongo drummer straight out of Indiana Jones. Still, he’s the deputy leader of the Green Party, so maybe he just wants to fit in with its liberal white women. Interestingly Mothin's parents, who came from Bangladesh, didn't wear traditional Muslim garb. His mum wasn't in a full burka, and his dad wore a suit. We're seeing this pattern across the West. First-generation migrants often work harder to fit in than their children do, and the expectation that second-generation migrants would be "just as British as anyone else" isn't true. People cling to their native identity. And as communities of immigrants grow in Britain, there's no British culture in those communities for people to integrate into. When Mothin Ali says that he's as English as a cup of tea, it's probably because he thinks that swathes of England are culturally Bangladeshi. And to be fair, he's right. The truth is, if Mothin Ali actually was English, he wouldn't be elected. He's elected by the Muslim community specifically because he's a Muslim. He campaigns in Bangla, which is the language of Bangladesh, not England. The idea that he's English is kind of ridiculous - if I went to Bangladesh and I had a son there, and I dressed them up as a little British man, with a bowler hat, little shepherd's pie and taught him to say "how do you do" and "please" and "thank you", and he then ran for election in Bangladesh, campaigning for votes from an insular British community that lived there, and in his election victory speech shouted, "Glory be to the Anglican Church! This is for the people of Swindon!" I don't think people in Bangladesh would be like, "Wow, this guy's so Bangladeshi. He's just as Bangladeshi as... (whatever drink they drink there, made at the side of the road in a dustbin)" But obviously this would never happen. I wouldn't move to Bangladesh because I don't want my children to grow up there. I want to live in Britain. And up until about 20 years ago, I did. A country is more than a collection of people who recognise the same teabag. If Ali is as English as anyone else, I want to hear him shout with the same enthusiasm because someone puts up a Union Jack or paints a roundabout with the English flag.

A Bangladeshi Muslim posted on social media and asked: “You can get everything in Japan, so why isn’t halal food easy to find? That’s why Muslims have to be careful to live here.” Then a Japanese user gave exactly the right answer: “Why insist on living in Japan? Why not just stay in your own country and eat halal food in peace?” Weird mindset. These people will go to a developed country to live and use the facilities there, but they still expect the whole country to run according to their religious restrictions. If you want everything on your own terms, why become a burden on someone else’s country?
