The cowled monk always did it for me….
The very page from the Usborne Book of Ghosts which caused me to slam the cover shut and hurl it across the table in our school library. Too scared to own a copy when I was little.

Rejoice - it’s 1986 all over again!
Robert Jenrick's wife thought she had applauded Kemi Badenoch enough. 🤣

This.
Employer NI up by 1.2 to 15%. Threshold cut from £9100 pa to £5000. That is a £25bn tax rise, proportionally hitting harder those employing lower paid workers. Probably three quarters or so of the increase will flow through to lower pay.

Exactly this. Increasing NI costs for charities and businesses inevitably has a knock-on effect in terms of what they can deliver. It’s almost as though the people making these decisions have not run a business…

Spoke at the @libertyhr2 annual conference today as @EBPSouth is their charity of the year. Great to meet the celebrity guest speaker, the legend that is Frank Bruno! 🥊 🥊 🥊 Leaving he said to me “when you’ve finished with that jacket I’ll have it”. A compliment indeed!

Ah yes, I believed in the markets until they got petrified at my economic illiteracy and the economy tanked. Siri, show me deluded.
Two years on. The British economy would be in much better shape if the Mini Budget had been implemented.

This is quite the achievement less than three months in…

Exactly this. Well said @ConorBurnsUK. “Dog dust” indeed…
"I don't think she's actually well and those who are close to her are letting her down by not telling her the truth, she is preposterous, she is toxic, she needs to be quiet!" Former Tory minister @ConorBurnsUK is scathing in his attack on ex-PM Liz Truss.

"A smart Tory strategy would therefore start with “how do we win back votes from Lab and LDs?”" so we know how that will turn out for the 'Popular Conservatives' (sic) crowd. It'll be confected sound and fury about rainbow flags rather than the NHS, schools, crime and economy...
The main opponents Conservatives need to defeat to win back seats are Labour (Con second to Lab in 219 seats) and Lib Dems (Con second to Lib Dems in 64 seats) So naturally many in the party are arguing for an all out focus on Reform (Con second to Reform in…2 seats)

At least after her defeat poor Liz Truss will still be able to claim up to £115K per year for life from the public purse for the ‘Public Duty Costs Allowance”. Very well-deserved for her memorable 49 days in office. fullfact.org/economy/liz-tru…

Good analysis in the latest ⁦@NewStatesman⁩ of the travails and potential destruction of the Tory Party. The prescription for recovery (Andy Street approach) is sensible. The remaining Tory MPs and members will of course likely put paid to that and go down the Reform road…

I noticed at this last minute rally that while Johnson was brought out of hibernation tonight, he shuffled off before Sunak appeared. No chance of them being seen together 😉.
