I will think and discuss this lots in months to come. 3 goals for any government: 1) create environment where economy can thrive 2) define and enforce standards to ensure people treated fairly and not exploited 3) ensure all in need of support are provided it readily by society

i found I was spending too much time here - and getting too annoyed and angry. When I started (2014) I enjoyed diversity of views, widening of horizons and occasional argument. Not it is uncompromising statements, no debate, and many of the opinions are clearly paid-for posts

so I am vastly reducing my engagement. Mostly because when I reviewed my replies I found I was becoming as bad - rude, dogmatic, angry Not who I am or who I want to be. So expect much less activity from me

I’ve voted today All elections matter, so if there are local elections in your area please do Seeing Aaron Banks on my ballot paper did make me incoherently angry for a moment, but a) takes all sorts b) we are still a democracy c) took great pleasure voting for someone decent

Re interminable trans debate What’s needed (but it’s too late now) is a bit of mutual respect if everyone’s rights, rather than each side demanding everything, and being totally disrespectful A man wants to be treated as a woman - respect it, but that man must respect women

Starmer: I'll only sign US tariffs deal if it suits UK. It will be a terrible deal. NHS will vanish. Expensive branded drugs instead of generic drugs. Hormone injected beef, chlorinated chicken, becoming the 51st state. Far better to join the EU. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3ev…

The idea that the UK will be spared Trump's tariffs is over. First steel and aluminium, and now cars. The govt must accept that this is an economic emergency, ditch its self-imposed red lines, and start talks on a new UK-EU customs union immediately. theguardian.com/us-news/2025…

Heard a rumour they are considering Bristol bears rugby coach for the Wales job Wouldn’t it be better if he was considered for the England job?

Interesting But despite its recent fall the price has just corrected from a Trump victory spike It needs to fall 50% It does seem ludicrously over-price -PE ration >100: my understanding is 25 is considered high! Bubbles should be burst!
