MEDIA STATEMENT | South African government responsible for AGOA crisis – Lex Libertas
Lex Libertas holds the South African government responsible for the reported decision by the United States to exclude South Africa from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
The South African government knew that this was a possibility. President Cyril Ramaphosa even warned that the country should prepare for the consequences. Yet the government failed to take reasonable steps to prevent this outcome.
These steps included addressing American concerns about incitement to violence against minorities, protecting property rights and promoting free-market policies. Instead, the government continued to prioritise its political ideology over the economic interests of the citizens of South Africa.
'This is shameful. The government anticipated the consequences of its decisions but chose not to address their causes,' said Dr Ernst Roets, Executive Director of Lex Libertas.
According to Lex Libertas, the AGOA crisis illustrates a deeper structural problem: South Africa’s highly centralised political system has become detached from realities at community level and shields those in power from the consequences of their decisions.
'A political system in which ideological commitments consistently outweigh the interests of the people it governs, and in which political leaders are not held accountable for the consequences, is not sustainable. South Africa needs fundamental constitutional reform based on decentralisation and self-governance,' Roets concluded.

The only way to attract current or former ANC members and voters is to become more communist/socialist. So, in essence, the DA leader is admitting, a day before the election, that his party will become more communist/socialist to become the biggest party.

Good work, @afriforum! Supporting you has been one of the best decisions I've made. I encourage anyone reading this to join AfriForum now.
This reprehensible parliamentarian, @Mngxitama2, should know that @afriforum’s legal team is coming for him in a big way. I have just instructed our legal team to determine the most appropriate legal course of action and proceed accordingly.
These hateful statements about an Afrikaner farmer who was brutally tortured are no political game. We are prepared to commit every resource necessary to ensure that he is brought to book.

A Member of Parliament for the MK Party, Andile Mngxitama, has mocked a farm attack victim and even said that his ears being cut off is symbolic. How is he allowed to remain a representative of the people?

ANOTHER brutal farm attack and torture in South Africa:
An elderly couple were burned with boiling water and beaten as attackers tried to cut off wife’s nipples with bolt cutters.
Only psychopaths consider this "just normal crime".

The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, is more determined to defend a chant about murdering farmers, than defending the lives of the farmers of the country.
Let that sink in.

It is regrettable that South African policies led to the termination of AGOA for South Africa. This was a predictable and preventable outcome resulting from the rejection by South Africa's government of real concerns raised by the U.S. Government. I remain hopeful that we can find a path forward to address our larger bilateral concerns, but the South African government must understand the gravity of the situation. We know that if America succeeds, so too will South Africa. This is the partnership I will continue to pursue as expeditiously as possible.

This is a Member of Parliament in South Africa under the control of a former President of the Republic. Disgusting, racist bilge.
The racist threats directed at white South Africans is GENUINE. While the Germans, Dutch, French, Brits silently endorse it through their inaction. Only the USA points out this racist abuse.

South African MP Andile Mngxitama is publicly describing the mutilation of a white farmer as a symbolic act against so-called “land thieves,” followed by “No land no peace.”
Read his words. This is an elected official openly providing ideological justification for horrific violence.
These statements deserve international scrutiny and a formal response. How much more explicit does the rhetoric need to become before it is taken seriously?
