I'm glad this part of my life's journey ended by working as a software engineer at @blockpartyapp_. Working for and with @triketora has been awesome! The company is looking for capable engineers ;-)

I haven't fully comprehended that this, at least for the time being, is my last week as a professional software developer, after... 15 years? I guess I'm leaving tech! At least as a profession I'll write a good bye post but the gist is: thanks to all the amazing humans I met ❤️

Juuuust in case you didn’t know this, #hyperfocus comes at a cost. If you (or your boss) gets super excited at the epic amount you got done in x amount of time, remind them/you this is not a sustainable practice 🤣 And when it wears off, expect to be fairly useless for a bit

I love how the dude releasing unto the world a biased, racist and totally deranged AI bot is warning said world that we're not far from "potentially scary" AI and that we need regulation. It's like listening to a con man explaining the con in real time.

Keanu has a better economic analysis than most of your tech editors out there

On the one hand, no one should use SMS based 2FA. No one. On the other hand, this is insane. – at Seattle, WA
NEW: Twitter is planning to unveil a new policy as soon as this afternoon that only Blue subscribers will be able to use SMS-based two-factor authentication, according to company sources.

I heard DigitalOcean laid off the entire tutorials tech writers team, among others. It's weird because the tutorials are one of the reasons for their big success IMHO. If I was a competitor, I'd hire them all

No. This is about cutting the Twilio bill. All this does is a) force millions of users who don’t change auth methods into having less secure accounts. B) allow your paying users to still use the least-secure option for 2FA. – at Seattle, WA
For security folks, is there and legit reason to charge for two-factor SMS? blog.twitter.com/en_us/topic…

The Realization that you did a great job making something 10x faster, only to realize that it has almost no impact on the actual performance of the system.

Just discovered that a public health website I'm using right now darkens the page with a content div to lower its energy consumption when it's idle. I'm not sure it's actually effective but it's a nice little gesture :-)

A woman at another big tech company (that I won’t name) told me a male leader responded to a question on diversity goals with “diversity is a luxury, right now we need to focus on people who can do the job” A lot to unpack there, & an unsurprising view we knew many had all along.

I thought I was pissed about the @digitalocean layoff yesterday, but then I read the earnings call from this morning. Here's the highlights. * Revenue grew 34% YOY last year🤔 * Approval to buy back 500 million stock * Already bought back 600 million worth of stock last year
