The National Board 'for' #Wildlife approves the erasure or shrinking of 35 #ProtectedAreas in defiance of law & Supreme Court orders . Examples:
#Pamed sanctuary, home to critically endangered Wild buffaloes reduced by >12 times the land originally sought for a paramilitary camp.
In Band Baretha sanctuary 2,785 ha excised, ESZ shrunk to 25m to mine pink sandstone for the Ayodhya Ram Temple.
#Ranthambhore (yes): 435 ha of #tigerreserve buffer cut for ACC cement limestone mining despite warnings that the mine lay in a tiger corridor.
Chambal: 207 ha removed from the sanctuary to legalise sand mining across critical gharial nesting banks.
The Central Empowered Committee did not object to a single denotification/boundary alteration/shrinkage abdicated its role as a watchdog .

Centre rejects Karnataka govt's CAMPA fund proposal to relocate villagers in Kudremukha
In a written response to Rajya Sabha on a question by Jaggesh (BJP), Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh acknowledged the proposal submitted to the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning (CAMPA) under the ministry, but added that it was rejected
Though Karnataka has over Rs 1,300 crore of CAMPA funds, it requires approval of the national authority to use it. The state committee, headed by the chief secretary, had submitted a request seeking Rs 100 crore, for relocation of families in Kudremukha National park

The Karnataka Government must stop delaying and move ahead decisively. Submit the revised DPR as required and start the Mekedatu project at the earliest. This project is crucial for Bengaluru’s drinking water needs and Karnataka’s interests.

The green city’s water paradox
Researchers from @CGWB_CHQ and @westernsydneyu have found that #Bengaluru’s dual crisis of #floods and water scarcity stems from urban design failures. Rain needs a 1–2 month latency window to percolate into aquifers. Concrete growth and lost lakes block this natural path, leaving roads submerged while deep #underground reserves vanish.
