New print! In this work we explore how the combination of artificial intelligence with computational chemistry can uncover new candidates within the acene family, navigating a chemical space of 10^19 (!!!) possibilities. Now available on ChemRxiv! chemrxiv.org/doi/full/10.264…
And two in a row! 🔥 Our manuscript on optimizing the supramolecular arrangement of dimers for efficient singlet fission has just been accepted in Materials Chemistry Frontiers! 🎉 @RoySocChem

The Suzuki reaction is named after chemist Akira Suzuki, who was awarded the chemistry prize in 2010. Chemists use Suzuki couplings to join carbon atoms together – they have been used to create polymers that emit light and to develop light-capturing molecules.

After a few years, Woodward and Eschenmoser would achieve, through an intercontinental collaboration, what is known as “the Everest of Organic Synthesis” - the monumental total synthesis of vitamin B12, which would take approximately 16 years, 80 steps, and 100 chemists.
#OnThisDay 20 August 1955, Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin and her colleagues published the final structure of vitamin B12 which has the most complex structure of all vitamins.

"The language of science is a language under stress. Words are being made to describe things that seem indescribable in words – equations, chemical structures and so forth. Words do not, cannot mean all that they stand for, yet they are all we have to describe experience. By being a natural language under tension, the language of science is inherently poetic."

Robert Burns Woodward, awarded the 1965 chemistry prize, worked on organic synthesis. He successfully synthesised many substances such as cholesterol and chlorophyll, the substance that gives leaves their green colour.

Henry Kissinger's speechwriter Winston Lord once spent days on a report, then submitted it. Kissinger sent it back: 'Is this the best you can do?' Lord rewrote it, resubmitted. Same response. This went on 3-4 times. Finally Lord snapped: 'Damn it, yes, it's the best I can do.' Kissinger: 'Fine, then I guess I'll read it this time.'
This is exactly how I work with Claude.

Excited to share our new work! Using AI, we analyzed in depth the chiroptical properties of [6]helicenes, exploring 9 properties (including dissymmetry factors) across 16 substituents with diverse chemical natures, covering a large chemical space.

Overall, the message is quite simple: combining machine learning models with genetic algorithms enables the design of helicenes with tailored properties. 4/n
Many thanks to everyone involved! It has been a long and winding road, but a very fun and rewarding one! @MOR_Fun_Group @DeliaMiguel81 @CruzCarlosM
