People think slop will flood everything, and they are right.
What they neglect to realize that slop competes with other slop and the best slop wins. It will evolve, fast.
Soon we will have slop as good as our best movies. It will have the best cinematography you've ever seen. It will have the most compelling scripts. It will tickle your brain in the most satisfying possible pattern. Everything will be the best movie you've ever seen.
It will become perfect slop, fast. It will be high quality art manufactured on an unimaginable scale.
We will be surrounded by beautiful slop. Swimming in it. Drowning. It will force us somewhere new. We will face a reckoning where we realize we've lived in slop for hundreds of years. Everything we've ever made was slop all along. We are the slop.
You'll be forced to question to value of art at all. You'll feel repulsed by the infinite facsimiles of the art we worshipped and wonder what's worth your attention at all.
We will destroy our idols in the flood and find truth.
You'll go outside and touch the grass and it will be beautiful again. The sun will warm your flesh and you'll feel God in your fleeting mortality. And that's real art right there. People will build generational wealth on mountains of slop for a chance at that holy moment.

We must kill art to embrace the true beauty of our fleeting existence. We must flood the world with slop until every breath you take is so beautiful, so meaningful that it could move you to tears.

No, the movie studio distribution method becomes almost entirely algorithm based. Short form slop will be prioritized, long form niche. Either the studios are cannibalized by the major social media/tech companies, or they become their own.
In the not too distant future, they'll push an "ethically sourced generative AI" narrative and tell you & your friends it's OK to love it. Whether you do or don't, will depend entirely on your success level at the time.
Documentary, Live shows, Sports, etc. will keep some trad. production methods.
Narrative crews will go bye bye. They're already discussing this heavily behind the scenes, and if you're active in the industry, you'd know this.

I planned ahead when the influencers were clearly going to replace corporate social media spot directors (one of the last things I did as a filmmaker). I sold my house, moved into an RV, and plunged almost everything into the covid crash, and now I trade cycles; something I've always studied and have been fascinated by.
I never hated the influencers. I thought they were cringe, but I never felt any ill will toward them. You think AI bros are ethically unsound, but you completely rule out the ones using open source models to train their own work, own friends and family, etc., into LoRAs to use as a foundation for their creations (I'm making a post about this soon).
I remember the music video crews refusing to believe DSLRs would be a threat.
I remember the big rig drone pilots refusing to believe DJI had a shot at putting them out of the job.
I remember steadicam operators scoffing at the gimbal, saying they'd never catch up.
I remember walking out of film school & never going back because they kept saying digital could not & would not ever replace film.
I sincerely mean this; if you care about your family, you plan ahead.

I started in video games, spent 12 years in Hollywood, then walked away in 2020— still in my late 30s and considered one of the best digital matte painters and concept artists in the industry.
Worked on The Hunger Games, The Mandalorian, Westworld, Game of Thrones, Hugo, The Amazing Spider-Man, and 5 Fast & Furious films, etc. Over 30 credits to my name.
Now I watch my friends panic about AI taking their jobs.
But I’ve seen this before.
Old-school matte painters hated us when we moved from glass to digital.
We were “ruining the craft.”
Now my generation is doing the same thing with AI instead of embracing it.
Here’s the truth:
AI won’t make Hollywood bigger.
It’ll make it better.
For the first time, creative people don’t need permission, budgets, or gatekeepers to bring ideas to life.
Small teams. Less suits. More originality.
This feels like when I first opened Photoshop—with one layer.
We’re early.
And in the end, more people will create than ever before. The process changed but the results will be better imo. For example, I spent 3 months on this matte painting. Now with ai, it can be done in 2 weeks. 👇🏽
