New blog post introducing string diagrams: this is a visual language that we can use to talk about many different kinds of type systems. Then I use them to show how a monad really *is* a monoid in a category of endofunctors. roboguy13.github.io/blog/str…

upmd is a TUI that makes Markdown docs runnable in your terminal. You can run markdown code blocks as tasks, chain them into workflows, keep output beside the docs, run them in a CI and more. @rezigned made upmd using @ratatui_rs & is Terminal Tool of the Week! ⭐️

Since the @bunjavascript folks recently wrote about their experience moving from Zig to Rust, it seemed like a good time to write about our experience rewriting @roc_lang from Rust to Zig! rtfeldman.com/rust-to-zig

Introducing MorphoHDL, a minimal language prototype for growing boolean circuits! paradigms-of-intelligence.gi… Early this year I wanted to design a size-agnostic graph rewrite rule system that could build functional boolean circuits. First I thought about "chemistry"-like reactive systems, but rules were too complicated with many different node types carrying multiple indices... Then I realized, that cell division is much more natural way of building complex structures, and once I started to treat graph edges as buses instead of single wires, everything clicked. No new formalism — just taking good old recursion and seeing how far I can push it. Ripple-carry adder, Brent–Kung adder, multipliers ... and some Haeckel-esque creatures along the way! Hope you enjoy the report of my journey and the demos.

since posting it yesterday tmux-palette now has: - TPM install - custom palettes - shell-powered plugins - popup actions - live theme picker + custom themes - narrow terminal mode still tiny, still just Bun + tmux check it out! github.com/eduwass/tmux-pale…

Imagine using LEAN to build and optimize your Factorio factories. Konstantin Weitz just did it and posted it on the Lean Zulip lol :P github.com/konne88/functorio

What is a color space? Why do we even need them? And why is all this shit so complicated? The answer to those questions, and a bunch more you didn't ask, going out to the mailing list on Friday.

If you are at all interested in type checking, you should definitely check out Stephen Diehl’s Typechecking Zoo! It has in-depth walkthroughs of implementing progressively more advanced type systems. Link below 👇
