Nice work by the @xAI team on Grokipedia.com! The goal here is to create an open source, comprehensive collection of all knowledge. Then place copies of that etched in a stable oxide in orbit, the Moon and Mars to preserve it for the future. Foundation.

Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.

This is about fairness: it’s not fair that most people have to come to work to build products or provide services while Federal Government employees get to stay home
BREAKING: President Trump signs order mandating federal workers show up in-person for work. No more work from home 🔥

From DAY ONE, we all warned our Government that Gautam Adani is a crook! US Government has issued warrants for his arrest for us$250m (Kshs. 32Billion) bribe! We have repeatedly demanded that ADANI contracts with JKIA, SHA, KETRACO & Mombasa Port be cancelled. The US trial will now reveal who was given bribes in Kenya. What will all those who were defending ADANI say now? How will Safaricom explain to UK & South Africa regulators how it entered into multi- billion contracts with a crook without due diligence? Of course Kenya regulators approved all the transactions without any due diligence. We hope that one day, Kenya Regulatory bodies will truly abide by the law established & not bend to political whims! Day of reckoning will one day catch up with our Regulators. Once again, US saves Kenya from crooks!

To his last day as the CS for National Treasury and Economic Planning, Professor Njuguna Ndung’u would sound more like an aloof lecturer in an Economics class, and less like a hands-on policymaker whose fingers were on the country’s purse strings. nation.africa/kenya/weekly-r…

What is a Recession? A recession is a significant decline in economic activity across the economy that lasts for an extended period, typically defined as two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth Are you feeling it ? 🤷 How Do Ordinary People Feel a Recession? For most people, the effects of a recession are tangible and directly impact their day-to-day lives. Here’s how: - Job Loss and Unemployment: Many people might lose their jobs or have their working hours reduced. This can lead to financial strain, as people struggle to cover their expenses with reduced income or no income at all. - Wage Stagnation: Even if people keep their jobs, they might not see wage increases, or they might experience pay cuts. Employers may halt raises or bonuses due to reduced business revenues. - Increased Cost of Living: While wages stagnate, the cost of living may remain the same or even increase, making it harder to afford essentials like housing, food, and healthcare. - Difficulty Finding Work: Job seekers may find it much harder to secure employment, as companies freeze hiring or lay off workers. - Reduced Access to Credit: Banks and lenders might tighten credit, making it more difficult for people to get loans or credit cards, affecting their ability to finance large purchases like homes or cars. - Decline in Asset Values: The value of assets like homes and investments (stocks, retirement accounts) may drop, reducing overall wealth and retirement savings. What Do Investors Do During a Recession? Investors typically respond to recessions in various ways, depending on their strategy, risk tolerance, and market outlook. Here are some common approaches: - Flight to Safety: Investors often move their money into safer assets, such as government bonds or cash, to avoid the volatility of the stock market. These assets are considered lower risk, even though they may offer lower returns. - Defensive Stocks: Some investors focus on “defensive stocks,” which belong to industries that are less sensitive to economic downturns, such as utilities, consumer staples (e.g., food, household goods), and healthcare. These sectors tend to perform relatively well during a recession because they provide essential goods and services that people continue to need. - Buying Opportunities: Some investors see a recession as an opportunity to buy quality stocks at lower prices, betting that the market will recover over time. This strategy requires a long-term perspective and confidence in the eventual economic recovery. - Diversification: Investors might diversify their portfolios to spread risk across different asset classes, such as stocks, bonds, real estate, and commodities, reducing their exposure to any single type of investment. - Holding Cash: Some prefer to hold cash or equivalents, like money market funds, to remain liquid and ready to take advantage of investment opportunities when the market starts to recover. - Gold and Other Precious Metals: Precious metals like gold are often seen as a hedge against economic instability, and their prices may rise during recessions as investors seek safety. #inflation #Bitcoin #GOLD #Trump2024 #recession #UPDATE #INDIA #London #USA #American #NY #Australia
