So this is the new great idea🤔 I’m pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldn’t have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs england.nhs.uk/long-read/ref…

This is the new link to the consultation regarding MAP “Core Capabilities” - now retitled to "Career Development". The survey is for the most part the same with an added page. This would make existing links broken (and collected results ?invalid). survey.alchemer.com/s3/76566…

What strikes me about this story, is that this was made public, pretty much out of desperation by either the medical team or a solicitor or perhaps the person themselves? I don't know. But it shows just how hard it is to get anyone in decision making positions to listen
The Home Office has told an asylum seeker with TB they are going to be moved onto the Bibby Stockholm barge The doctor treating the migrant is trying to prevent the move and has warned of a “public health catastrophe” 🔴 Exclusive @mollyblackall trib.al/xSiKcg3

The @gmcuk survey results are out Common themes of #burnout, #bullying #discrimination and #harassment We absolutely need to do better. We are failing our colleagues, our profession and our patients with toxic behaviours. #medtwitter

Study participants talked about how some healthcare professionals don’t understand Long Covid, and some had a feeling that they were not motivated to understand this condition: blog.westminster.ac.uk/hicov… Some GPs will refer to those GPs with a special interest due to lack of time.

Feeling fancy; just helped top up the @BMA_JuniorDocs strike fund, as I had the privilege to qualify in an age before massive student loans, and with better pay and free accommodation. Please, peers, pay it forward for junior colleagues. bma.org.uk/juniorspay #bmastrikefund

How about we stop using the expression Social Determinants of Health? When what we mean is Political Obstacles to Health.

The #BMS Medical Society wrapped up an intense week of exams by hosting a watch-party for the @rcgp Discover GP conference held last weekend. Students spent an inspirational morning listening to talks from General Practice leaders across the UK @Bruneluni @naomilowbeer1 – at Hillingdon, London

I am in between clinics this morning and wanted to wish everyone a Happy Christmas from the national “elf” service! If your child hasn’t had their flu vaccine yet, it’s never too late. There is evidence that having the flu vaccine protects against Strep A too. #forourchildren

Highlights how cautious we need to be - can't presume role substitution will work. Need research to inform if and how we should introduce these changes in Ireland and as well agree - what we really need are more GPs and GP Nurses @ICGPnews @IMO_IRL @AUDGPI

Devastating post on TGG today about a GP who has died by suicide 😢 Consent from Gail’s husband for these screenshots to be shared. The pressure NHS GPs are under is immense. It needs urgent action. What’s the plan @BMA_GP @rcgp @NHSEngland? 👀

Genuinely bemused that everyone is like "oh watch out for burnout" in healthcare, when the fire from all of us burning out is what keeps the system running.

I've been thinking about this too. I made this diagram I thought would be helpful. xitter.cf/Kit_Yates_Maths/status…
What's the probability that at least one person in the space you're in has covid? How does it depend on the population prevalence? How does it depend on the number of people in the room?

Did you know the NHS officially was restructured today. Despite a manifesto pledge not to in previous elections. Now in the age of ICS in the NHS.
